I am looking for an antique piece of furniture to use as a cigar cabinet.

Has anyone ever done something like this?

Of course this is a new one from Vigilant Inc. But this is the type I was looking at.

I was wanting to know if I get an antique or older piece, what has to be done on the inside?

Any of you woodworkers or humidorphiles chime in.

You'll want to contact Arlin Liss about this.

He's THE MAN when it comes to humis. I think he has some descriptive picture series on his site.

If you want the best deal on the planet, go to www.vinotemp.com. They have a model called the 700 FT CM. It holds 6000 cigars, has temperature and humidity control and is only 2995.00 plus shipping. I bought mine years ago and it has preformed perfectly. To view it, type in the model number in the search feature.

I bought a Mxt from Aristocrat Humidors. It's 5 feet tall, 28 inches deep, and 38 inches across. It has 4 pull out shelves, a pull out drawer and humidification system in a natural mahogany cabinet for around $2200 shipped from Texas to Florida. Bob Staebell is a fine craftsman and great to deal with.

I got my 3000 ct humidor at CheapHumidors.com for $750 shipped. It works great! I use a CigarOasis II humidifier that I got on Ebay for around $200. It all works perfect, 70% RH and 68 degrees always. It looks like a nice piece of furniture. They have other cabinet styles to choose from too.
