"hints of leather"

I mean, c'mon!! How many of us here have consciously tasted leather? and if so, I don't want to know the circumstances surrounding actually tasting leather!

I played little league for several years as a kid and remember chewing the leather straps on several of my baseball gloves. I'm guessing it's pretty common.

BTW, the taste is very unique and not bad at all -- IMO. :p

I never chewed on the straps but if I had my glove on I would bite on one end and grab the other to tighten them. I can't still remember the taste though.

I dunno. It might be a cliche but it also is true. I had a farm rolled gifted by Cigardawg and it really had a wood taste, a specific one, really. We have to have some comparative words to use to describe taste or just not have discussions about taste.

But I hate cliches, too. They are a dime a dozen.

I get it....

I am not trying to be argumentative, casue....I agree, you do need descriptive words and phrases for taste and appearance. But there can be good descriptions that are creative (and have a chance to become overused in the future    ) while still being descriptive.

A woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a smoke. When you divorce yourself from the cigar it's much less expensive than divorcing yourself from the woman. (Not that my wife would allow that)

"There's nothing like a good cigar and that's nothing like a good cigar".

"Oh, I only smoke Cuban cigars"

(heard at my local cigar club often... usually coming from someone who is smoking only fake Cuban cigars)

Smartest thing you've ever posted. :whistling:
