How do major makers, such as Padron, AF, and the like control consistency from one cigar roller to the next? When I go to pizza hut they measure and weigh the ingredients out so it's the same pizza no matter where you go. Do they say "use one of these tobacco leaves and two of these leaves", etc...

Also, from year to year, how do they control consistency, i.e. one year a crop may get more rain and shade the next more sun, which has to affect it. Do they discontinue the line and call it something new?

To my understanding, the blenders are the masters of each recipe or blend, from year to year crops may differ slightly and so the blend is adjusted. These guys and gals are pros, they use their sense of smell, touch, sight and taste to keep consistency. At least this is what I've read about and watched in videos.

There are some great books available that explain everything cigar. If you are interested, pick up a few of them. They enlightened me when I was younger. The whole process is amazing and I think well worth the read.

Another thing to enjoy while smoking your favorite stick.

Are there any titles you would specifically recommend Steve.

I believe a great one for beginners is "The Complete idiot's guide to cigars" Some of the information is probably dated by now, but a lot of information for the newb herfer.
