Anyone know of an up to date cigar database that's online? Preferably in excel format or even better in Access or SQL?

I'm working on an access database for tracking smokes.. Its in its infancy, but a db would help me a lot.

Thanks

Ok, this is getting rediculous. I did search.. I searched for Cigar List and Cigar Database and looked for 10 minutes before I posted.. Its not like I came out and asked for something that's asked extremely often.

I'm looking for something in xls or access database ease of use.. I'm asking specific questions about things that aren't readily found in the search that I performed. I swear, if you are lumping me into the catagory of Newbs who dont' search, you are wrong..

I'll just go away now.. and thanks for your assistance.

Did you use GOOGLE!

My word man...just search DATABASE (on this site/in this forum) and the first 2 are similar threads.

Have a good day! :D

of course I used google, and the posts you are referring to don't actually have a list. There are several posts about people looking at lists, and there's even software out there that has a list built into its code. Its old, and incomplete, and illegal for me to carve out while here at the office.

The posts are all there, but the answer to my question is not. Hence I'm asking again.

Why does every post by someone who's new around here have to automatically be labeled with a "Haven't you searched"

What if searching doesn't turn up the answers? How do I prove that I searched? When is it ok for a noob to ask a question? These are not addressed in the Forum Ettiquette guidelines listed on the main page. http://www.cigarpass.com/forum_etiquette.shtml

I definitely found the site to be a lot more friendly before I started taking part in conversations and being an active poster rather than just poking around quietly.

Oh....you didn't find it...then the answer is no.

There's software to make your own...and databases to use....or you could contact the admins and get the code/data.

Alright...it's Friday and a lot has been happening.

Stick around....we can do a Meltdown Monday!

Oh - what kind of data are you looking for regarding cigars?

I'm looking for a list of every Manufacturing company, first off. Then as my idea unfolds, if it does, i can include box codes and link everything together to build a completely searchable, reportable database for a collection.

No need to freak bro, nobody is slamming or flaming you. This is a subject that has been discussed at length. One small recommendation for new guys (of which I am one) is to mention you've searched and have come up empty. You could also try pm'ing someone in the know. No one wants a forum polluted with redundancies, and lately there seems to be so much of it. Hence the sensitivity; but again, no-one's after your goat. I don't think so anyway... ???

The reason I ask is that there are several web pages that focus on cigar reviews that have tremendously large databases of brands and names sizes the whole shebang.. But the web just provides you the front end. I'd have to mine the backend and that, at best, is considered in bad taste. At worst, illegal.

Since there are so many people in the know around here, i thought maybe might have some such list that was updated on yearly basis..

i just went to that database and tried to find three cigars: Gurkhas, Indian Tabac, and its father Rocky Patel.
I came up with nothing...I've found cigar databases besides Cigar Cyclopedia are grossly out of sorts...I just bought Perelman's Cigar Cyclopedia and i love it...I've started putting notes next to sticks i've tried already and its working fine for me...That thing is the handiest thing i've bought since i started smoking cigars
