Cigar etiquette vs your personal habits.

You can count me as another brute. When I'm really into a smoke its damn hard to put the nub down. I'm always having "just one more" pull before I end it.

I agree that how far I take the cigar is depending on how much I am enjoying it. I will chuck a cigar after an inch if it is just not tasting good, but I will burn my fingers trying to get the last draw out of the nub of a tasty smoke.

Sam told me something very wise... "There is no wrong way to smoke a cigar." There are some people who smoke cigars through their noses.

IF I feel the cigar isn't worthy of my time, I toss it. My time is very limited, and precious to me, I place such a great value on it that I make a conscious effort to be more efficient in all the things I do. With this mind set, I've pitched many cigars, some cheap, some really expensive, some rare hard to finds, some commonly found stogies. A cigar treats everyone differently, but time is always a cold ruthless dissipating resource.

I read that quote by Davidoff and thought it was hilarious. I suppose if I had unlimited access to Zino and Davidoff I wouldn't feel guilty about throwing out a cigar halfway through either.

Unless a cigar is really bad I almost always smoke it down to the nub. I also commit the faux pas of holding it like a cigarette, until it gets to the nub where I hold it with my fingernails. Of course he also said that those that get their cigars wet are disgusting - and by the time I'm done with mine the end is all chewed up, the remainder of the cap has fallen off, and sometimes I even have to clip the head again and start fresh. I guess I'm not that cultured.

R U kidding?? I've nubbed cigars till my thumb was glowing! Those were usually the Padron anniversaries, VSGs, and Fuente Anejos.

What about the finger hold etiquette? I hold mine like a cigarette until it is nub time and then between my thumb and finger. Hell, it is more comfortable and it shows off my ring. Makes me feel like a member of the Gotti family. Yo.....

Looking over at 'Travel Court Stenographer', you better not run off with half my cigar. Did you get that?

On a serious note, enjoy 'til you don't anymore. :)

Agree with Bonfire... comfort is key, after all relaxation is the destination.

I smoke it about two-three draws after it gets hot. I'll take a band off if it seems like it will come off without tearing the wrapper, if not I wait until I've smoked up near the band. I don't ash unless I am inside, don't want ashes going all over a hotel room or a car.

I'm definetly a brute. CAO Italia, I smoke it still I couldn't hold it any more...

On a similar topic, I am always concerned that I'm not lighting it right. I don't touch the flame to the cigar, but I also don't slowly rotate it until all the sides are lit, I kind of just skip around and get an even burn. Does this make me a Brutex2, or do you guys do this as well?

Dynamics of proper cigar lighting, Calling all experts...

How Do You Light Your Cigars?

Hope that helps.

'Only a brute will smoke his cigar to the last third.' -Zino Davidoff

Sounds like a cocky, rich ass**le to me!
As long as I'm enjoying it, I'd rather be a brute, thank you very much!
