I looked through posts, and couldn't find an answer to this question. I'm sure it's in here somewhere, so forgive me for asking a repetitive post. I've received a TON of cigars from a client who sent them to me as a thank you for doing a great job with his portfolio. I suspect he just bought it from a catalog as a sampler. Anyway, there's over 50+ cigars here, and as a newbie, I have no idea of how to ID them except by name and what's on the band. Is there an easy way to ID these? Or should I just take pics and have the ones I love identified by someone who knows? I do know there are some decent brands in here including Monte, Cohiba, and H. Upmann. Thanks in advance for and suggestions.

I know some people here hate this site, but http://www.top25cigar.com breaks everything down by manufactuer, size, etc. That may help you, it has worked for me a lot.

The comparison shopper at Cigarcyclopedia (click) is also very useful for identifying cigars once you have the length and approximate ring gauge.

Very true. There are cigars that I loved only 6 or 8 months ago that I can't tolerate today. By the same token, I had no use for Opus X and Hemingway Maduros before. Now I can appreciate them.

I have to agree with Khari, there were cigars that I completely enjoyed 3-4 months ago, that I wouldn't buy today. Then again there are some cigars that I've had of recently that I really enjoyed, just not as much as I will in months to come.
I think the reason Khari and others have stated simialliar scenario's, is the simple fact that your palette is going to change. If I we're you I'd smoke them all and take notes on the ones you like the flavours you can pick up on. Armed with that knowledge you will be able to pick out some really outstanding smokes you can enjoy and others that will take time to enjoy.

How long have you been smoking cigars? Is it something you enjoy? If you're new to the hobby and enjoy cigars, smoke 'em all! That's the only way you'll define your tastes and build your palate.
