Caution: This thread has no real reason other than to gloat. Also contains cigar porn.

Heading out Saturday morning to the Dominican with the girlfriend. 5 nights at the Zoetry resort.

Just packed my cigar lineup and thought I'd share....I think these'll do.

Awesome!! Enjoy the DR. But I am affraid you will need to bring more than that....although you can find some great "real" cigars on the beach from the nice people that hawk them there :) :)

Wife and I are headed to he Majestic Colonial in July. Curious to hear if you left the resort, and what places are worth checking out.

My wife and I were at the Majestic in 2014 and loved the resort. I travel a lot to the DR. What would you like to know about the area?

I can't help you here Brent. We soaked up sun on the beach and resort the entire time.

Just curious what to do off resort. Going to be there 6 days and I'll need a break from doing nothing. Cigar tours worth it? Also we saw some beach dune buggy trips, etc. Just wondering what's worth checking out, and what's a waste of money.
 
I have not been on the Buggy trip personally but spoke with people that have.They said it was ok but long and hot as you are in the Jungle and Mangroves a lot.I would definitely do Parasailing right off the beach at the resort.My wife is not a fan of heights, but it is like you are floating on marshmallows and just a blast. I would barter with them and depending on your Spanish, you can get great prices. NEVER pay what they are asking in the DR. They expect you to barter with them.

The Majestic offers a trip to a shopping area and Cigar tour. It was fine to get away from the Resort but do not expect the Cigar Tour to be anything like you would do if you were in Santiago. I recall it was free though.If you are a Golfer( I am), then there is a decent GC 5 minutes from the resort that had reduced fees for people staying at Majestic. More near the Airport there are 3 of the top rated GC in the Caribbean
and are must plays if you are a golfer. Corales, Punta Espada and La Cana are stunners right on the ocean.

You can also take snorkel Trips from several beach vendors right off the beach at Majestic. While the snorkeling is not like Cozumel or other famous dive/snorkel destinations, there are plenty of fish and a great boat ride.

If you have not been to the Majestic before I think you are going to love it. They do a weekly FOAM party in the pool that gets the crowd all jazzed up. Let us know how you liked it and Enjoy those fine Cigars !
 
When we went to Punta Cana we went on a cigar factory tour for Don Lucas. It was decent. We also did the 6 hour snorkeling trip got to see the coral reef then swim with sharks and rays. If you are lucky (I was) you might see a barracuda while out snorkeling. I guess that's why they tell you to take off anything that's reflective such as necklace and rings. :eek:
