Hey All,

I've done a search a few times on CP and cannot come up with a definitive answer to my question.

I see people referring to MSRP of cigars in assorted threads throughout the forum and posting actual prices.

Where are you finding the MSRP ? Is there a comprehensive list somewhere on the 'net ? Or is it just experience at your local B&M ?

I've googled as well and the sites I'm finding don't seem to be what I'm seeking.

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks,

I did find the cigarcyclopedia site but wasn't looking in the right place.

But aren't those prices Retail and not MSRP ?

What I'm getting at is if I'm supposed to send someone an $ 10.00 + cigar, what price am I supposed to be using? Internet Retail , MSRP, Local B&M Retail ?

Taxes, shipping included in the per cigar price or not ?

What is the proper way of pricing ?

Thanks again,

Bill

Thanks MMMonk

I was actually reading that when you posted.

I sorted down through the thread and found this excerpt which makes the most sense to me :

How do you determine a cigar's value when attempting to trade for the cigar in a pass? How do you determine your own cigar's value? What are your thoughts on MSRP? What are your thoughts on Going Market Value?

For value of a cigar, I find the box price for the cigar at the 3 lowest retailers (don't forget shipping and sales tax). I add them together and divide by 3. Then I divide that number by how many cigars are in a box. This gives you fair market value. If you know w/o a doubt the MSRP for the cigar, ad that in as a 4th variable. This will play out in sought after, hard to find, or rare cigars.

So:

Average of the 3 lowest 'net retailers including shipping, taxes = trade price of cigar (not talking about rare one's)

Instead of taking that single quote as the gold standard, I would read through every established member's experience stated in that thread, and build a methodology that respects all their techniques.
