Cigar Pass continues to provide surprises

I am sitting with my son having dinner last discussing the pros and cons of having a landline telephone when it rings. I look at the caller id and don't recognize the out of state number so I let the machine answer it. The machine is in the other room and I can't hear it clearly, but I recognize my wife's voice giving the "leave a message" speech and I figure whoever is on the phone will probably bail. I wait for the dialtone to confirm the caller has bailed, but instead I hear some guy talking...I can't make out what he is saying, but he is clearly leaving a message. I grap the kitchen phone and say "Hello".

It turns out to be my old Army buddy from 25 years ago. We haven't talked in 20+ years and it is great to hear his voice and learn that he's still alive and doing well.

Earlier that day, he's at his cigar-smoking neighbor's house and they are goofing around on the computer. The guy is showing him some cigar related sites and they are looking at some cigar reviews. At some point, they come across one of my posts that includes a picture of me smoking a cigar and my buddy says "Hey, I know that guy!".

He looks me up on the web, gets my phone number and gives me a call. It was great talking with him.

Old friends reconnnected, thanks to Cigar Pass!

I just found a guy I was stationed with over 20 years ago online as well... sent him an email and we are back in touch, feels great don't it.

Joe, that's awesome! Nothing like catching up on old times, especially after so many years. That happens to me once in a blue moon. Sometimes you don't have much to say because so much time has past, but then you get those friends that make you realize that time separation really hasn't effected the friendship in anyway at all.
