If you need me for anything, please email me directly at emodx over at yahoo.

Emo
Jake, have you tried to contact him via email?

He hasn't posted in almost 2 years and hasn't logged on in almost one year. I'm sure all the cigars are OK, but like Brian said...maybe it's time to pass the torch.

One thing is for sure, you have to love the guy for all he has done for CP in the past
I'm alive. I haven't had time or the gumption to post much online. I have 6 kids in the house, my wife is a full time honor student at the University, and I have a very challenging Active Duty billet. But when I do see a PM come through I'll log in and reply.

I sent in sticks to be a part of this years ago. The list isn't accurate, as my cigars were never added, and I was never added. That brings up the question..."WHERE DID THEY GO!?!"

Regardless, this was a great idea...but where did emodx go, what are the status of the cigars? I'm supposed to be covered, but am I really? If a pass was lost, would this really come into play now, or did the cigars just become part of someone's personal stash?

I was wondering the same thing when this thread got bumped. It may be time for the torch to be passed to an active member since Emo is never around anymore. It's been a LONG time (around 3-4 years now) since he's been an active member here.
The cigars are fine. They are in a coolerdor with beads to keep them nice and smokeable. As far as the list not being up to date I'll have to check my XLS and figure out where it went wrong. As far as becoming part of a personal stash goes, I think you are out of line. If you have a problem with me, then take a moment and send me a PM. But to just verbally regurgitate what you are pondering is close to slander.

As far as Big Jakes addition, I don't have the PM thread in my saved PM's. Please PM a list of what you sent and I'll check against what is in the cooler. Chances are they are sitting on top.

I am more than happy to pass the torch to a new administrator. As I am not a regular member I am open to suggestions on how the board should pick the next person.

I don't think anyone has a problem with you Emo, but CPI is a public thing so if questions arise, then they should be posted, not pm'ed (unless someone is making an accusation). Just to clarify since you quoted me, I wasn't the one questioning whether the sticks went into someones personal stash. I was agreeing with the fact that you aren't an active member on the board anymore and haven't been for quite some time, thus the comment about CPI going to someone who is actually going to spend time around here. Not sure where you come up with the "slander" thing, because I never implied that they became your sticks.

I know this will be an unpopular thing for me to say, but since we're going tit for tat here, I don't understand how you can come back in and run another pass after such a long absence. I understand that you have nothing but an impeccable reputation here (in the past) and I certainly respect you, but anybody else would have been shot down in a heartbeat due to being inactive. The last sentence in your above statement "As I am not a regular member" says you agree. I'm sure a lot of people don't mind you running your pass, but every member of CP needs to be held accountable to the rules, regardless of tenure, post count, friendships, etc.

Example...and it's not the best, but it will suffice. JOE.M. was once a very active and upstanding member here for a long time. It became apparent that he was only using CP to sell cigars the last few years and no one would say anything to him because of who he was. He didn't post, but just used the B/S/T. Rod told him no more, if you weren't going to contribute, you can no longer post sales. This is far from what he did, but when you haven't been around the past few years you shouldn't be able to host a pass, mentors along or not, after being gone for as long as you have.

I know all rules are up for interpretation, but does You may not start a pass until you have successfully particpated in at least 3 other passes AND have been an active member, in good standing, for at least the past 9 months of joining CP.

....mean that just because you were active for 9 months after joining CP, but haven't been active for the past 3 years, that you're good?

This is by no means a personal attack, I'm not trying to start a flame war, I'm not trying to tarnish anyone's reputation. This has everything to do with a member that's been inactive for years now, making a couple of posts, and starting a pass. You guys can toss all the shit on me you want, but the standards we hold for one, need to be held for all. No matter who the person is or what their standing ONCE was.

Food for thought: We're letting him start a pass, but if he tried to sell a fiver, how quickly would he have been reminded of the activity rule and the sale taken down?

I agree with Brian 100%.

I got a pm from emo letting me know he found the sticks I sent for CPI and that my name and cigars would be added to the list.

The situation only took a couple years to resolve....and I'm glad it was. However, I think we can all agree the torch should be passed.

Emo, you seem like a stand up guy, eventhough I have never had dealings with you outside of this. But you have to see where I was coming from. I posted a year and a half ago wondering where the sticks I sent in January of 2009 were....with no update until now, how could I know what possibly happened to them? It wasn't slander...it was a question that had been unanswered for an unreasonably long time.

Emodx has maintained the C.P.I. as a community volunteer for over 7 years . Thank you emodx!

Anyone want to volunteer to be the next C.P.I. keeper? ( insert sounds of crickets chirping here )

In my opinion, any issues with emodx's participation on CPass due to his inactive / active status should be redirected to another thread.

The start of C.P.I. in 2001 : Link

Other than DarrenR's initial thread , I could not find archived threads for C.P.I. ( which may have been lost in the 2003 server host fiasco ) until emodx took over the responsibility. If my memory is correct, the CPI inventory bounced around a few different hosts ( including Joe M. I believe? ) before emodx took it over in 2004. Maybe emodx can provide a little more history for the archives?

( On a side note, another CP volunteer that should be thanked is lucasbuck and his gracious hosting of the Newbie Sampler thread. )

I do not believe that any "pay outs" have ever been made from C.P.I., and maybe CPI is no longer a needed resource?

IMO at this point CPI would be better served as a monetary fund. Also I have had two passes get 'lost' that had to be actively recovered due to postal fubars. One would have been totally toast if not for some miraculous luck.

I agree, plus cash is a lot lower maintenance and easier to move. However, what about the current sticks in CPI?

Sell them as samplers for $ for CPI?

Who will control the funds?

As I said before. You guys decide what is best for CPI and I will oblige. This is your baby not mine. I only volunteered to take care of it as it was my own.

Big Jake, I apologize for not responding to your thread. I didn't stay up with the BB as there was a lot of drama on here for a while and I had my own life to deal with. I did how ever post my email address and I do respond to PM's as they come in.

When some makes a remark that the cigars ended up in personal stash is slander. And to continue on that thought makes you liable to slander. Just sayin.

By the way, my opinion is that if you aren't a part of CPI, your opinion is just that, an opinion. This should be an internal dialogue between CPI members.

Still don't understand where the whole slander thing comes in? You apologize to Big Jake and then bring back the whole slander thing when he was the only person to ever say anything about a personal stash. Does he not have the right to bring up his concerns when it took you a year and a half to address them?

Just sayin.

I am a member of CPI which is why I felt I had a right to voice my opinion also.

There are a lot of cigars on the list that are not NST appropriate.
