I've been wondering why prices on cigars seem to be high in the shops here in Boise and now I know one reason. I was reading the Spring edition of Cigar Magazine and came accross the amount of taxes that are paid on cigars. Here in Idaho, the tax is 40% of the wholesale price! That means, for a $10 stick, I have to pay $14! :angry2:
So, okay, what about my neighboring states? Could I perhaps get a better deal there if I drove a bit farther?
Nope.. Oregon is 65% and Washington State is a whopping 129.42%! :0 Ever wonder why there don't seem to be any BOTLs from Washington on CP? I'm guessing this is a big reason! For a $10 cigar, these poor saps are paying almost $23!
And now I know why we have so many good brothers from Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Texas:
Tennessee = 6.6%
Virginia = 10%
West Virginia (Martinsburg Mafia) = 7%
... and finally, there's Texas. These BOTLs pay just over a penny per stick! :thumbs:
