Wherever I need to be...
I am working in Altamonte Springs, FL for a few days, which is a little Northeast of Orlando. Does anyone know of any good shops, bars, etc., that are close by? I found the website for Corona Cigars, but I was hoping for something on this side of Orlando, so I don't have to deal with rush hour traffic after work.

Thanks,

JK

You have the Cigar Bar on 46a off of I-4. You also have Corona Cigar Co. which is much better south of Orlando on Sand Lake Road off of I-4. Let me know what you decide and when and I may be able swing over.

Yes. Right past Lake Mary Blvd exit. Make a left off the ramp onto 46A and you will pass through 1 light and on the second light you will see a Applebees on the left, Albertsons on the right. Make a left at the light which is International Pkwy. Make an immediate left turn into the applebees parking lot and follow the strip mall around the bend and its the second or third shop in the mall just around the corner. Let me know if that helps. I dont recall 46A's exit number.

And I cant vouch for how it is, they moved in the past year to 46A from Lake Mary Blvd and I use to frequent their old shop. Im not sure how this one is. I wish Corona would finish their new store on 46A.

Jim,

If you are looking for stores to shop in the Alt Spr area, here's a few (I'm assumming you can get directions from a local):

ABC Liquor on West 436 near the corner of 434/436. The have a small walk-in humidor.

There is a small store on 436 near the Alt Spr/Casselberry line, right across from Circuit City. Run by a local guy named Bob, a bit small but friendly and free beer!

There is a another walk-in humidor at the Cheap Smokes store in Casselberry on 17-92 in the Public plaza (the one with the Home Depot).

There is a cigar bar (Cigarz) in the Albertsons plaza on the corner of 434 and Wekiva Springs. I've never been inside....

Joe's house - I live in Longwood (the town next door!). Holler next time you are in town.

There is a cigar bar at Universal City Walk too, if you get to play tourist.

When it's not so friggin' hot, Charlie (Stogieman) showed me a few neat places to hang in Sanford...come back in a couple of months!

Hope you have some fun.

Cheers,
Joe

Just be careful in Sanford. It's not exactly the Beverly Hills of Florida!

Actually it is the Beverly hills of Orlando!!! But that's not saying a whole lot. I work in Lake Mary just around the corner of the Cigar Bar but unfortunately I dont get off until 9PM tonight. Working for a co-worker on vacation. Do you plan on being there after 9PM?

Maybe I only see the ****ty part of Sanford then! My folks live in Debary, so on the way to their place from the airport, we always drive through Sanford on 17/92 (?), which is what we get off onto from the Beeline (?).

I'm looking forward to visiting them again though, mostly because I now know of a bunch of places to head to for cigar enjoyment! And I suppose it's nice to see them too.

Gonz,

Yeah thats not the best part of Sanford. Try the other side of I-4. The grass is truly greener on the other side of the highway :)

I just got back from Bob's (Havana Cigar Specialists by Circuit City). He's a nice guy, and free beer!

DevilsMilk and I are going to meet at the cigar bar at 9. If anybody else is around, feel free to join!

Glad you found Bob's and good to hear that you enjoyed it. I've been in a couple of times, bought a few smokes, sucked down a free beer and BS'd with Bob a bit. It's a nice little store.

Hope the mini-herf was fun. I couldn't make it last night, maybe next time.

Cheers,
Joe

Joe,

Sorry you could'nt make it. I had a great time hanging out with JimK smoking a nice Onyx Robusto and driking a beer. Jim is a top-notch guy and look forward to the next herf. Thank you Jim again for the smoke, beer, and conversation.

Brad

Thank you as well, Brad. Brad (DevilsMilk) is apparently a mover and shaker in this area. As soon as the owner of this very trendy club saw Brad, he came up to us and chatted for about 20 minutes. Very interesting guy.

Brad and I happened to hit the place on ladies night (free drinks for the hotties), so there was some nice scenery along with nice conversation. We talked about life, cigars, Cigar Pass, and all you bastids. :D

Thanks again, Brad!

Mover and a Shaker! Hmmm... Dont let my wife find out... LOL.

The owner is a really nice guy who will talk your ear off at times if you stand still long enough. I have known him for several years now and was amazed he remembered me since it has been almost a year or more since I last stepped foot in his establishment. He is a great guy and I look forward to going back here soon. Thanks again Jim.
