Cigars and women

My wife is great when it comes to my hobby. I set the rule about niot smoking in the house. I grew up with a smoker and when I went to school and would visit back home I realized how bad our house smelled.

She does perfer that I brush and rinse before getting hpt and heavy if I have been smoking but other than that she doesn't mind at all. She kinda likes the smell of a GOOD cigar and she can smell out the rockets!

As a side note...while she kinda likes gars she really likes pipes. She likes the smell of a good aromatic pipe tobac.

Anyway thats my pennies worth! :p

I'm one of the few lucky ones too I suppose. My wife 90% supports my hobby... she doesnt understand why I keep buying when I already have so many! :) and keeps telling me to smoke what I have before buying more. She'll understand that one day :)

As for smoking in the house, it was HER idea!!!! :D When I first started, I was strictly a porch guy. Sit out there, smoke my cigar, she'd come out and talk with me, grab a few puffs from my cigar... then in the winter it was off to a cigar friendly spot, cigar shop, bar, whatever. Then one day she MADE me smoke in the house- and explained its MY house and I have the right to enjoy sitting in my house doing what I want. :D WHAT A GAL! I installed a screen door on the back door, got myself a nice patton fan to blow out the smoke, bought a couple of air purifiers/ionizers- and presto.... I'm sitting in the living room watching my TV smoking a cigar! :p Now, this was 4 or so years ago... Now its ME who hates smoking in the house- she still fights with me to smoke in the house, and not leave to smoke a cigar.... I just hate the smell afterwards, even with the door opened, 2 air purifiers and ionizers, you can smell the cigar hours after I smoke it. My kids like the smell :) My kids always encourage me to smoke a cigar, my daughter (9yrs) always wants to clip it or roast it for me

In the beginning, she bought me a box or two of cigars she heard me comment that I liked, Got a box a Flor De Oliva "O" torpedo's, and a box of Ashton VSG Sorcerers (or how ever you spell it). They're all gone now :( but she bought 'em for me! She's bought me ashtrays, lighters- she's on the look out now for a cigar shirt for me :) So I can wear to my herf's.

So, while god made me ugly, fat and bald- he blessed me with the love and support of the best woman on earth and a wonderful family!

Just to go into a little about me and Sam--I share his love of collecting and smoking fine cigars. I would never try and restrict his interests, and I can't really understand a woman, or a man who would do that to their partner. As long as the both of you understand that you gotta also pay life's bills, etc and to quote our motto, "**** Happens", then why deny someone something you know they enjoy if you can swing it?

I honestlly have no idea why women are so against cigars? I guess they just look like something "men would smoke" as opposed to a cigarette. No idea, but I love them, lord do I love em. I am just glad that most of you accept me, a GURL, into your world :p

We need to lobby for more cigar lovin' women on the boards !

Moderator, can you change the title for this thread too:

"Men with big sticks and the women that love 'em."

Maybe that will get better results for recruiting.....

It's called "control", as in the desire for one to control another's behavior, thoughts, freedoms, etc. There are several legal forms of this both past and present: slavery [and it's current version called, "taxation"], extreme anti-cigar laws, etc.

Okay, off the soap-box now.

My wife, godbless her, hates my cigars, can't stand the smell, bitches and moans everytime I smoke one. Tells me I stink and to take my stinky shirt off as soon as i walk in the door. She would kill me if i even thought of smoking in the house and would have a fit if she caught me spending much money on gars.

That being said, The Bratkeeper did buy me my first and only Humidoor, a nice 40 ct desktop in Cherry. She would know if she heard the name Arturo, that it might be cigar related (she asked me if Arturo Sandoval was a cigar, when she saw some of his music on the web) and she is a member here at CP (though I can't figure out why)

She does and will smoke, but it ain't cigars "Those things stink"

My wife and family tolerate my love for cigars since they know that its the way I like to relax and unwind. My wife has even decorated our office in a tabacco/cigar motif. It also makes it easier to shop for me since they know whatever they buy as long as it has an application to cigars I'll enjoy ;)

I am strictly an outdoor smoker (lord help me if I smoke in the house or the cars) but the new hot tub and smoking porch w/piped in music will make sitting out in the cold a little easier ;)

Thanks, I'm pretty well-versed in all that..it was more rhetorical, but I applaud your efforts :D

It seems to me that cig smoke is worse then any stogie could ever be..But that is just my opinion! I am pretty much relagated to only smoking in our office except durring the winter months when I have to freeze my ass off and smoke outside on our upper deck or porch..I can however smoke my blended pipe tobaccos inside year round..Go figure!..To me pipe smoke seems to permiate everythin and last longer then cigars do.

My better half has always been a real sport about my stogies. She will even light my lastest find for me when I'm driving and keep it burning that perfect cool smoke for me if I need to do something.

The only down side is that I have to keep an eye on my stock. She will sneak a smoke when she runs out of her cigs. Why she returns to the cigs is beyond me.

She is a keeper, it is unusual to find someone who appreciates a good smoke. I once won a box of cigars from a friend. I had to a disclaimer with him:

The quality smokes only; any dusty, machine-made, dried as a popcorn fart segar found at the local Stop-n-Rob will be suppositoried into a place where it can be ensured a properly humidified and tropical 98.6F temperature controlled environment
