What's the closet Bourbon/Whisky to A.H. Hirsch? Wish I could get more AHH but it's hard to find at a reasonable price.

Try the Kentucky Bourbon Distillers "Vintage Bourbon 17" which can be found for $50-65 quite easily. It's as close as I've found but still only about 80-85%. YMMV

Hey Rod,
Last time I was in a liquor store near me, they had a bottle of the AH Hirsch 16 for $149. I considered going back to get it but wasn't that pressed because I have a few reserve bottles already. If you're interested, let me know. I'll run by there and see if they still have it.

A buck fifty isn't a bad price compared to most places but it is still far too much to pay.

I can usually find it here in MI, but I will have to get you prices to be exact. My belief is that it is around 150 to 170, so not a bargin. Places I buy from however, do sell at minimum shelf price for MI, but that may not be saying much.

I might add that Jefferson's Reserve is a very nice big oak and caramel bomb that I enjoy and may in some ways compare to AHH. It is priced around the 450 mark. Also, fairly easy to find.

Feel free to PM me if you would like me to pick up the phone and get you some prices.

Khari,

That's very kind of you, thanks for the offer. While that is a good price, I'd like to keep it around $50 or less. It's too bad the cost of AHH shot up the way it did.

AVB - Thanks for the tip, I think I'll buy a bottle.

AHH 16 hasnt been $50 in NJ for awhile now(unless you get REALLY lucky). I know a place that has it for $100 if you want me to grab one for you (as long as its still there). Just send me a PM. Preiss imports would release more and more each year and continually charge retailers more for it each year due to decreased supply. For $50-$75 I think its a fantastic bourbon, once it gets to $100+ YMMV, I think PVW20 is a superior bourbon though although AHH 16 is mystical stuff and the 20 year is stuff of legend! Just my 2 cents.
