NEW: The House gave final approval to a statewide smoking ban today and sent the bill to Gov. Bill Owens, who is expected to sign it. The measure would outlaw smoking in most public places except casinos, cigar bars and the smoking lounge at Denver International Airport. The House approved the measure 38-24.

It specifically exempts casinos and Tobacconers. However, it includes private clubs.

Of all the tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated: but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. cs lewis

Sorry CC, didn't see that the link was busted until Roscoe bumped the thread. I got it from the news thread.

After reading the Colorado legislation I cannot find where they prohibit private clubs with NO employees.

In NJ we are setting up a private facility for our 12 year old cigar club.

Interesting question. The Cigar bars are getting through by not serving a "restaraunt" menu. As for the casinos, money talks. I'll ask around about the employee question.

Has anyone in the Denver area had the pleasure of dinner at Brooks Cellar with a smoke in the downstairs? I hope the lower level is somehow exempt from this political posturing. Any locals know if they have/will classify it as a cigar bar?
