My wife and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary this Thursday. Our weekend plans are to drive to Philadelphia on Friday, take in a Phillies - Redsox game that night, and stay through Sunday. God bless her heart. On Saturday we plan to explore the city most of the day and I would like to take her out to a high-end steak house at night. I'm familiar with The Capital Grille, Smith & Wolensky's, The Palm and other such restaurants from my business travels. However, I would like something over-the-top that I can still score a reservation at. Someplace I can get suited up at and have her bring her little black dress, without worrying about jeans and hat guy showing up. Anyone in the area have any suggestions?

Also, while walking around on Saturday anyone have any shops we can "accidentally" stumble across in the city? About the time she starts complaining her feet hurt from walking, I can suggest "Let's stop in here and hang out for an hour".

Last question, I'm driving from Massachusetts and Mapquest has suggested I take 91 to 95. I've heard there is another way down using 84. Anyone have suggestions on a travel route?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

LOL! She wouldn't have anything to compare it too and wouldn't realize just how good it was.

If it has to be steaks then give Shula's a try. It might not be as dressy as you want though.

Shula's Steak House
Sheraton Philadelphia City Center
Philadelphia, PA 19103
Phone: (215)448-2700

My other choice would be:

The Prime Rib
1701 Locust St.
Philadelphia, PA 19103.
Phone: (215) 772-1701.

Really good too.

Just take her to Pat's for a cheesesteak....

Never been to a Shula's, it tops my list if I can't find the dressy restaurant. Will they let a Buffalo Bills fan in? Can you still smoke in the bar area as the web-site indicates?

I know they'll let in a Bills fan  You could still smoke in there a year ago but I haven't been in since June last year.

Old Bookbinders has re-opened haven't been there in ages. I know that they had a smoking event advertised recently.

Go to Buddakhan.. Great place

By the way Casa, you got to make to Holt's for crazy Fridays....Load up before you head home.....

Crazy Fridays? Sounds interesting, I looked at the web-site didn't see anything about it but found their locations. Is crazy Friday celebrated at both the Walnut Street and Townsend Road locations? Are either right downtown? Didn't plan on leaving the hotel or stadium on Friday, but might make a trip if these deals are worth it and it is conveniently located off a subway station.

Actually, Crazy Fridays are at the retail locations. Buy 4 and get one free; even with box purchases. This does not apply for FFOPX, Pqadron Anni., and VSGs. Great deals especially on clearance tables
