I have an external hard drive and it is formatted NTFS. I want to format it to Fat32. On my two computers, one XP and the other vista when I select the drive to format it only gives me the option to reformat it to NTFS. I can't seem to find where to reformat it to Fat32.

ny ideas?

Go to Start, Run and type in CMD. In the dos box type format /? to see the options. You'll be able to pick the type of file system as one of the options. Just be sure you put in the right drive letter you want to format!
 
WinXP won't let you format a drive to FAT32 if the drive is bigger than 32Gig. You'll have to use some sort of 3rd party partition manager to first partition the drive.
 
What's the objective Shooter? less efficient, less secure... Are you swapping this drive with a Win98 or older machine?

Check www.tucows.com for some freeware or trial shareware disc management software.

ya, was gonna ask the same question....NTFS if anything is more efficient.

My PS3 (playstation 3) only reads Fat32. I just figured out how to hook up an external hard drive to it. I am still working out the bugs. The PS3 is an amazig machine. I have it hooked up to me home theater and you can browse you music through your tv. Like having a jukebox. Pretty neat.

The damn thing just keeps locking up and not reading all my music. It will only read 396 out of 1200 songs and they are all mp3. Then the ones it does read, it will pull every single bit of info about the track but won't play it. I dunno still in the early stage of getting it to work.

I was kinda pissed at first when it said I wasn't in elevated mode. Must be the ego thing. The computer must have not met me at least 8 times. HA
