A coworker of mine is going to visit some family down in Costa Rica. He'll be right around the capital of San Jose. I know from reading massive tidbits on google that they have...*cough* bakeries that serve undesirable cannoli *cough.*

Has anyone gone to Costa Rica or know of any Costa Rican shops, by San Jose, that my friend can visit and grab up some real cannoli?

First of all I want to say that Costa Rica is a wonderful country in my opinion! The people are great and they simply know how to treat visitors. Oh and of course the ladies, um......ya if you are single this is a must travel to country in my opinion. I can tell you this about the food. It is important to carefully select the places you acquire them. They have market in the middle of Sab Jose that is great, but it can also be a disaster. I saw a couple of places in this central market that had some great cannoli. There was also some places that had some terrible cannoli, so walk through and find the good stuff. Finally I would suggest the El Preidente Hotel directly on the main street of San Jose. They also had a bakery that had great cannoli. Hope that helps.

*edit: I was joking with this they have no cannoli in CR at least I was not looking for any when I was there :whistling:!

I've been there a number of times. Rent a car, drive from San Jose to La Fortuna, and check out Arenal and Cerro Chato, as well as the waterfall.
