CP Coffee First Impression

Not really sure where to put this post, but here it is.

I had my first cup of Cigar Pass coffee this morning. This pot had caffeine. My first few sips had a bold flavor along the lines of a french roast, but not as much in-your-face. The flavor balanced out and became milder with a slightly bitter finish. I drink my coffee black in order to fully experience the flavors of the beans. There are times when I can't finish a cup because it just leaves a sour taste and isn't enjoyable. That wasn't the case here. After finishing the first cup, I wanted another.

I start every day with a large travel mug of coffee. One of the things that I don't like is that nasty coffee aftertaste that lingers through the day. While this coffee did leave an aftertaste, it was mild and rather pleasant.

Overall. I liked the coffee. Haven't tried it with a cigar yet.

Beans were medium ground and brewed in a Cuisinart automatic drip machine.

Since getting into cigars, I have found I "taste" things differently. I have gotten into teas and some coffees. I will be placing an order soon. The wife has me on a buying hold for everything. . . :angry:

I agree on the taste things differently. I find that with beer I can pick out flavors in it. I dont drink coffee but may order a few bags for presents.

I got mine today, and immediately had to brew myself a cup. It is a nice dark coffee, but tastes really smooth, and leaves no aftertaste at all. Very good. Nice job Rod.

I made a 32 ounce french press and was impressed a few times.

Ground the coffee to a bit finer than medium, added the boiling water, stirred and let set for 3 minutes 30 seconds and poured into a warmed mug.

First of all the beans look like they will drip oils but they are clean and beautiful.

The first sip had that uh-oh this might be too strong/bitter but there was no bitterness and the coffee flavor was great.

I used the same amount of beans I normally use and both the Mrs. and I felt we may be able to back it down a bit and use less........making it a better deal yet.

Overall impression.............loved it!

The wife and I have both really been enjoying the beans. When I first showed her the new stuff she gave me that look of "Why are you messing with my fuggin coffee again" but after trying some her tune changed =)

I have to agree with the compliments above. The coffee is bold and tasty but the most amazing part (and why it pairs very well with a cigar, imo) is the smooth & clean finish! My primary problem with most of the coffees I drink is that the strong finishes get in the way of tasting the cigar.

This will definitely be my go-to cigar coffee. :thumbs:
