Well here goes, my first review for CP. I purchased two Cusano Corojo 1997 Robustos from Barclay Rex in Manhattan near work. I had the opportunity to smoke this while I was doing demo work on our kitchen.

On to the cigar it self:

Well the robusto is a 5x50 cigar with a nice leaf wrapper with minor veins through it; overall the construction of the cigar was excellent. The draw was smooth and the burn was consistent. The first few draws had harshness to it but that could have been my own palette. Overall the cigar did come around and had a strong taste, spicy at first but included a hint of coffee. I’ll have to have another to see if I can taste anything else. I enjoyed the cigar to the nub and the initial harshness turned into an enjoyable smoke overall.

At $6.60 NYC prices it’s a reasonable cigar for the price. My local guy in New Jersey sells the cigar for $5.50 a stick less 12%. So I can get the cigar locally for $4.84 a stick. NYC tobacco tax really sucks!

Overall this would make a great smoke for someone that is transitioning from a mild cigar and would like to step up to something a little more complex. This would certainly be a good yard cigar.

Thanks for letting me ramble on.

Nice review. Try the torpedo if you find it. I think it has an even better flavor than the robusto in this blend. I agree with the transition statement, it would be a good one to step up to.
