Custom laser inscribed cigars

I saw this and thought it would be a great idea for the birth on my 3rd child (coming in November) I was wondering if this process damages the cigars at all? Also are there any other companies that do this? Just wanted to compare prices, any help on this would be appreciated.

That's a great deal!

I would imagine it's like laser tattoo removal or hair removal...the laser is tuned to the wavelength of some of the pigment in the tobacco that burns it off...I bet it works best with maduro wrappers.

Doesn't hurt them at all (well, it does because that's how the inscription shows up on the cigar - but the damage has no affect on the smoking of the cigar). As a matter of fact, Oliva Master Blend cigars are laser inscribed. Looks rather interesting, if you ask me... I know Altadis cigars (the distributor of Montecristo) was also offering the service for a fee...

Corona Cigar are the only ones that do the laser AFAIK, at least they were the only ones I could find last year. I had some done and they came out great.

I beleive that the Olivia master select seires also has a laser engraved design on their cigar.. So it if works for them Im sure it will be a-ok for you.

Never seen the laser engraved Cigars, but there si a Filipino company that does custom Bands. We've had our squadron, group and Majcom created as Corona bands and sold for fundraisers within the units. (also good freebies for inspectors <grin>)

Do you recall the name of the company that did the custom bands? I can find several places that will do custom bands if you buy their cigars..... I've been looking for a company that will do just custom bands.

Not sure of a company, but clown over at cw does really nice work and has recently posted that he has time to do orders if anyone needs anything you should check it out.
