Cutler traded to the Bears for two 1rst rounders and a third. The slap in the face is that Denver had to take Orton :D

As a Wisconsinite, I was hoping Orton would have a long career in the Windy City.

IMHO - Denver made out on this deal. 2 first rounders - and a QB with a better overall winning %. I think Cutler is far from a "super-star" in the league.

Denver could end up with a top 2 quarterback in the draft with the 1rst rounder at 18, but unlikely. I hope he turns out to be a basket case.... I had seen Bear's receivers beat coverage only be underthrown by Orton. Cutler has the arm now. If Denver had a better DT Cutler would have a great win percentage.

One article I read said Cutler is the best quarterback the Bears had since Sid Luckman. Not a good thing if you have to go back that far for a QB comparision!

I dunno... The Bears have never had much luck with first rounders. So - if Cutler continued his winning ways, he'll be a very welcome addition to the Bears.

However - if the Bears repeat history, poor Jay will have a short lived career with tons of injuries. Like the Packer player that piledrove Jim McMahon into the ground and blew out his shoulder...

I think the Bears did alright. Cutler won't put up gawdy numbers in Chicago, but he'll do okay. His line there isn't as good and he doesn't have as many talented targets, but he still has a lot of skill.

As for Denver, I'm really not happy with the way Bowlen has been steering the Broncos lately. We'll see how the season pans out, but I'm afraid we are now in full-blown rebuilding mode when we didn't have to be .

I think the trade looked pretty equitable for both teams. Bears are in a win now situation, the defense is getting older and more expensive and the offense was missing a play maker under center.

On the other side, the Broncos picked up some much needed draft picks and an interim quarterback that will not lose a game for you, a la Rex Grossman.
