I'm no AVB, but I do have access to a megachain with a great Scotch guy, and bought this on his recommendation.

This is a big, bold single malt at 46.3% alcohol, with a searing ginger/nutmeg spice on the finish and loads of oak and smoke. Think of Laphroiag minus the iodine and peat, and you'll be in the ballpark. There's a rich dark molasses undertone that complements the bracing spice perfectly, and a nice oily feel on the tongue.

At $39 for a 750 ml on "Spec's Key Special," I'm quite pleased with this one.

Do you find that your second and third impression can change, for better or worse? I ask because that can happen to me, and I am wondering how many times you've drank this one. Actually sounds pretty good.

Well, four times, actually . . . but all in the same night! :whistling:

I'll probably have another dram of it this weekend, though, and it'll be interesting to see if my impressions remain the same.
