My Dear BOTLs and SOTLs,

I bring to you news of a new cigar lounge and cigar shop that will be opening in The Village at Waugh Chapel in Gambrills MD 21054.

Titan Cigar has had some setbacks and hopes to be open by DELAYED: SEE BELOW.

They will be hosting their first cigar event, a Rocky Patel event, on EVENT POSTPONED. A representative from Rocky Patel will be on hand. My guess is that there will be some type of special on Rocky Patel cigars. Keep checking back because when I know more details I'll post an update to this thread.

Titan Cigar hopes to average 2 events a month. Future events will include rum tasting, cigar tasting, and bond night. I'll have to ask just what that means. I'm thinking James Bond Night where he might feature that Man's Man, James Bond in one of the Bond films. But that's just my guess.

About Titan Cigar:

Although the shop is small, they have a liquor license - the only cigar shop that I know of in the area that does. They will have 120 cigar lockers, and a comfortable lounge area to rest your weary bones, smoke a good cigar and down a favorite beverage. They have a plasma TV to watch your favorite sporting events.

They are creating this lounge for us cigar smokers. The owners, Dave and Michelle are very excited about opening this shop. They are almost as excited about opening this shop as I am for finally getting a tobacconist I can call local! It's only 15 minutes away from me! They hope to open two more shops in the near future.

There is a restaurant in the shopping center that Titan Cigar is currently having discussions with regarding the possibility of providing catering for Titan Cigar and some of their future events. As I become aware of other information, I will pass it along.

They have a website at http://www.titancigar.com/. Currently it only has the front page set up.

Directions to Titan Cigar in the The Village at Waugh Chapel Shopping Center: (I don't know the actual numeric address yet.)
From Annapolis: Take I-97 North to Exit 7, Route 3 South Bowie/Odenton. Go 1 1/2 miles to the Village at Waugh Chapel shopping center on the right.
From Washington D.C.: Take Route 3 N and go 7 miles to Waugh Chapel Road intersection. Make a U-turn onto Route 3 South and turn right into the Village at Waugh Chapel shopping center.
From Baltimore: Take 295 South to 695 East. Take I-97 South to Exit 7, Route 3 South Bowie/Odenton. Go 1 1/2 miles to the Village at Waugh Chapel shopping center on the right.
From Columbia: Take Route 32 East to Route 3 South (Bowie). Go 1 1/2 miles to the Village at Waugh Chapel shopping center on the right.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Titan Cigar is still looking to fill some part-time, weekend positions. If you might be interested, contact them at info@titancigar.com.

Tell them you found out from me. I get nothing out of it except to let them know I am spreading the word about the new shop.

Herfingly Yours,

Bryan

December 8th UPDATE:

AW CRAP!!! 8O In an email progress update from Dave:

"Bad news - I believe that I will just miss the 12/15 date for the Rocky Patel event by a couple of days.

Good News - The store is looking awesome!..."

It looks like their projected opening won't be until after the date of the RP event, December 15.

I'll keep you posted with updates as they occur.

But they're still looking for part-time help.

Hmmm I'm looking for a job, but will they hire 18 year olds? The B&M near me would only higher 21 y/os because they served alcohol. Might be a bit of a far commute. Hope I'm not busy December 15 though :)

My Dear BOTLs and SOTLs,

Titan Cigar will be open tentatively in two weeks according to an email I received from the owners on Monday. I don't know the exact date. But I guess it will open on or about the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd even though the website indicates that they will be opening on November 24th.

They will be hosting their first cigar event, a Rocky Patel event, on Friday, December 15. A representative from Rocky Patel will be on hand. My guess is that there will be some type of special on Rocky Patel cigars. Keep checking back because when I know more details I'll post an update to this thread.

I am talking to the owners about taking a shift or two myself. :D

Al was telling me about this place yesterday! I look forward to checking it out

I don't know Sean. You might run into a similar issue here. They will be serving alcohol. I just don't know. <shrug>

I hope I see you on the 15th. :D

I almost forgot to mention that they'll be creating a mailing list for their events and specials. If you're close enough and are interested in receiving an email with news about their events and specials, send an email to the address below and let them know that you want to receive the email.

info@www.titancigar.com

Tell them Herfin Bigdog sent you. I don't get anything out of it, but I told them I would help get the word out to help them get started. Besides, I might be helping to protect my own interests if I begin working there.

Sweet! Thats kind of on the way from work to home, by way of the beltway! I doubt I can do the 15th, cuz my sister is graduating from college.

Yes !! I'll be in Annapolis the week after Thanksgiving, think I will drop by.

Mag, I hope they have it open on that weekend. ???

I spoke to the owners yesterday. They're moving full-speed ahead to have the shop open by next weekend. But from what they were telling me, it's going to be real tight trying to have everything in place to meet that date.

However, I have full confidence that they will be open well in advance of the December 15 date for the RP event.

I drove through the shopping center today but didn't see any sign, do you know where exactly they are going to be located? I'll be back in town during the week of December 11th so I will drop in then.

I haven't been to the shopping center myself since my wife first told me about the shop. But it is supposedly near a restaurant called Four Seasons.

O.K. I saw Four Seasons so I guess I'll check it out on my next trip in December.

Sorry BOTLs and SOTLs. The opening has been delayed. And the December 15 event will have to be rescheduled.

See the first post.

Dropped by there on my way to the airport today and met Dave, very nice guy,and he showed me the layout.Should open next week. Can't wait to visit the place once it's open.

I have yet to meet Dave and Michele. But I have talked with both of them on the phone and they seem like a genuinely nice couple. They seem to want to make all the right choices to open this shop and do things the right way.

I hope I get a chance to meet him this weekend. Open or closed...I hope to get a tour of the shop. :D

Check out their updated website, looks good. Can't believe they're not a Fuente shop though.

They do have a lot of other "high-end" cigars on that list.

I dropped by the shop on the way home from work last evening. It was dark inside. But from what I could see from the front door, there is still a lot of work to do. I could see the display shelves lining the left wall. They have a double door entrance, and it appears as though the entire store (the front of it anyway) will be a walk-in humidor.

Maybe they'll be open by late this week, or next weekend.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and thumbs  :D
