Deleted Members?

Can anyone tell me if there is a reason that a new member might be deleted from CP. I've had a few close friends become members over the past month, three to be exact, and all three members don't exist on the site anymore. I've been to their pages... I know that they all signed up successfully. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Were they ever members? You sure you're at the right site??? The only time we delete members are when they create multiple accounts (rare) or if they're spammers.
