A week until I deploy again. But now that I am at a new unit, we aren't cutting holes in the ocean looking for drug runners. The ship I am on is funded in part by the State Department and by SouthCom(Joint Command over the southern hemisphere). So we go down to different countries and teach their navies and Coast Guard forces how to conducte International Law Enforcement, shipboard damage control, deck seamanship, etc.
While down there, I use SouthCom's money to install electronic packages on their Patrol ships and small boats. The idea is if they have a strong Maritime Law Enforcement, the harder it will be for drugs to enter the country. With the drugs coming in comes corruption and narco-terrorism.
Kinda helping them help themselves. Too bad I am not allowed to post publically where I am going, but after each stop I'll post where I have been and post a scouting report. I did hear that there are a couple of places that offer good deals on Rum. :whistling: ]

Good luck to you! Ya know...ive been in the military for 4 years now and not had one single deployment! :p Gotta love those non-deployable jobs! :thumbs:
 
EMO!!! Fellow brother in arms! I just returned from ******* doing counter drug ops myself about 2 weeks ago!! I highly recommened the Havana Club rum...it's sweet! Have fun on your trip, because I know mine was shorter, 73 days. :p

Ahoy you Coastie be safe and have as much fun as one can have when on deployment to some remote unlisted tropical location :whistling:. Hopefully the local rum runners will have ample supplies to keep you and your shipmates hydrated ;)
