Since this is posted at the top of the lobby:

Just a reminder to all. Discussing sources is strictly prohibited in the open forum. If you want to discuss sources, then please take it to E-Mail and not on an open platform. We are an international forum with members from all over the world. Even though the sale of cuban cigars may be legal in your country, it is illegal in the United States. Please do not discuss where you purchase your cuban products from nor reveal your sources. We want CP to be a safe place for all.

If you are unclear in any way, then please email us at CP or PM another member for further clarification.

Thank you,
CigarPass

...I thought I'd ask the question: Does this apply to ANY/ALL sources?

yes or no?

Oh wait, is your question asking if we shouldn't be discussing sources where I can get deals on legal cigars too? Or if we think that discussion of sources of Cuban cigars should be completely taboo, regardless if you live in a country where it's legal, and regardless if you posted the link because the vendor has a humidor that you want to buy a freind (random completely hypothetical example)?

The wording of the rule is pretty strong, prohibiting discussion of any source, fake or not. That said, it seems as though there is a certain point at which it becomes acceptable - like outing a bad/fake vendor.

:p

I agree, the poll needs to be clearer.

Here's what I'd really like to know. Is it all right to post comments in a Cuban vendors thread discussing their cigars? I have often seen many vendors post specials and then watched members (including me in a few cases) talk about what great prices they have.

The vendor starts the thread and usually posts a link to their site. Is it wrong to discuss the cigars they are offering in any way shape or form?

I think the rule speaks for itself. Are you questioning Rod's authority on his own forum? It specifically addresses Cuban cigars.......has nothing to do with legally obtainable cigars.

The reason I interpreted it the way I did above is that I recall recently someone receiving some hell because they mentioned and provided a link to a vendor, let's just call them TS, who often has hard to find Fuente products at retail.

But I agree about the gray area and cause for concern when a vendor posts their sales, and we all chime in about how great that vendor is, and what great prices they have. Again, my interpretation of Rod's rules is that we don't want to appear to endorse the illegal obtaining of illicit products. And when we go on and on about how great a sale is and how great the guy we deal with there is, that's exactly what we're doing.

I am not questioning Rod. I am asking how others view the rule.

:whistling: :whistling: I wonder who that was..... LOL

I thing Gary got his point across - make everyone think about it and review the rules.

Thou shalt not discuss the procurement of heathen communistic contraband. :D

We all know that the source ban is for a certain kind of cigar even though the wording does seem to indicate all cigars. I buy mine from you guys so if I go I'm taking y'all with me :0
