For those that don't know what these numbers are here you go.

As for your question. Can I use them yet? Yes. Have I used it though? No, because right now its more experimental than anything else. Therorectially I could go to Bestbuy, buy a HD-DVD movie then rip or extract the raw data. Then make a video codec that uses the code to "process" the encrypted data. What we will likely see in the future is a free downloadable codec for Windows Media player or something that will feature this code to play ripped HD-DVD/Blu-Ray files. These will most likely be pirated in some way distributed through bittorrent.

As a software engineer I just find this kinda stuff really interesting. Especially since it seems this code was so obviously displayed to the most novice of users.

Its important to mention that the powers that be have stated that all new movies on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray use a new code.

Nothing of limits for them to copy, I for one am sick and tired of it. As our industries continue to go overseas for more and more this is only going to get worst, and they're getting bolder about it. That's not a mouse but a cat with big ears, give me a f'n break.

A friend of mine who works for a global PCB manufacturer was recently telling me that a large Fruit Company has experienced this very same problem in a big way. They went to China to manufacture their recent "You Phone" and just like Cuban cigars leaving through the back doors of the factory, You Phone's showed up on the streets immediately. Not knock offs, or cheap imitations, mind you but OM products without the badging of the Fruit Company.

I apologize for the rant but with recent downsizing at our company and every other piece of bad news about our economy in the press, I'm getting tired :( .

I 100% agree with you. We (the US) seem hell-bent on giving money to other countries and selling our own people into wellfare.
We also are not trying to stop blatant theft in the case of the DLand knock-off.

One of our Taiwanese engineers at work just left on a month-long vacation to China and Taiwan. He said on his way out the door "Email me if you want me to pick you up any of the Chinese pirated stuff."
"Thanks" I said - pfff.

Its an interesting story at least :/
