Nope, he doesn't. It is that time of year again, my third attempt at trying Cuban cigars, and giving a review without using the terms vinegar or talcum powder. Will I succeed? Probably not but a guy has to try. Below is the line up. Its enough cigars that with Hong Kong prices, I'm contemplating trading them for 1,000 bitcoins but I like bitcoin less then these so that puts us back to vinegar and talcum powder. As always, thank you to the folks who made this possible and Viewers Like You! Below is what I'm working with. There will be a few more that get added but this is the gist of it.

2022-01 Punch Coronations tube (REM ENE 2020)
To kick off the most celebrated season in Cuban cigar smoking, I grabbed this Punch Coronations which just sounds fancy and royal. It has been sitting in my dry box for at least a week in its tube but with the cap off. On my test draw, the draw was perfect. Nice. So off I went with Biscuit...

2022-02 H. Upmann Half Corona (LTO FEB 2021)
Precursor, I ended up having to relight this several times as I was walking Biscuit The Dog and ran into a bunch of chatty neighbors. This cigar is pretty short, like 3.5 inches which presents its own set of challenges when relighting or even smoking. Note to self, have a nubber handy, next...

2022-03 RASS (MSU JUN 2019)
This is a favorite blend of many smokers here and I have enjoyed them in the past, myself. 1/3: So this one did not start with any pepper right off the bat which was a departure from the previous 2 in this review series. This did start off with talcum powder and some vanilla. Suck it haters...

2022-04 Rafael Gonzalez Panetelas Extra (SOP MAR 2020)
Early morning smoke on Father's Day! I don't recall ever having one of these before. A lot of things aligned this morning to make this quite enjoyable. So off on a cool morning walk with Biscuit The Dog and some coffee while the rest of the house slept. 1/3: Okay shoot me for saying this but...

This is one that I have ended up reviewing the last two times I did these review series. I will link the 2021 below for your amusement. I'll also reference back to last years review as I got through this just to see how right or wrong I was in 2021. 1/3: Imagine that you just opened up a...

2022-06 Partagas Short (unknown year or code)
This is probably the most frequent cigar I've had. I'm sure that is true of most of us too. Anyways, I'm outside sweating my balls off in front of a fire pit on a 90 degree day, to bring this to you. So, you are welcome. 1/3: Delicious, right off the bat. That only happens with the good...

2022-07 Partagas Serie D No. 6 (GOM OCT 2019)
After several days of nonstop adventure and an afternoon that was equal parts Ground Hog Day, Seinfeld reruns, Joel Osteen and Sesame Street I grabbed a grapefruit seltzer and some tequila and this Serie D, No. 6 to retire to the back deck. 1/3: Spice and a little bit of mustiness. I am...

It is the morning of July the 4th. I'm tired. Dog is not. I am quiet. Dog is not. I am now up walking the dog so that the wife can sleep. The sacrifices I make! 1/3: The start of this cigar is strangely familiar. It is close to the last Parti Short I reviewed a week or so back. Musty...

2022-09 H. Upmann Connossieur No. 2 (MTS ABR 2021)
I don't know anything about this cigar but in doing a look see, I noticed that there are A and B versions to go along with the 1 and 2 versions. Interesting. Unfortunately, as I was cutting the cigar, the wrapper began to unravel. In hindsight, I believe that it had spent too much time in the...

The Ball Sweat Index (BSI) is high today. I wanted to revisit the Parti Short (check out 2022-06) and see how improved my palate has become in a few short weeks. 1/3: Some dark espresso with a hint of cherry and some toast. (None of this stuff showed up in the first go around) 2/3: Cherries...

2022-11 Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 (MGL SEP 2021)
This one was good, but a bit toothy which leads me to think that the rest need to stay in the humidor for a bit longer. Overall, I'm glad that I have a box though as I think these will be really good once they hit their sweat spot! 1/3:Amoretto or something akin to the sweetness from almonds...

2022-12 H. Upmann Magnum 54 (SOU MAY 2021)
This is from a box that I bought a few months ago at the suggestion of some members here. It is a gorgeous looking cigar. Most Cuban cigars look like trash with there wrinkly wrappers and such but this one looks like a typical, well constructed Nicaraguan cigar. 1/3: I get raisins and corn...

2022-13 San Cristobal de la Habana El Principe (May 2017)
This one came as part of a box split. I've grown accustom to sipping on Cuban petit coronas which usually means they last as long as a NC robusto. This turned out to be a perfectly timed cigar for todays dog walk. 1/3: The flavor is a little sharp but that could be because I just brushed my...

2022-14 Cohiba Siglo 3 (unknown year or box code)
I picked this up in 2018 on my wife & I's 10 year anniversary trip to Bermuda. For those who are curious, a 5 pack was $110 US. This is the last one out of that box. It was tight, but I've come to learn that is almost one of the signature indications of Cuban cigars. 1/3:Mexican hot...

2022-15 Cohiba Short (unknown year or code)
This is a very flavorful and conveniently sized cigar! 1/3: Vanilla, graham cracker, and wood (maybe hickory?) 2/3: Lots of flavor changes but one of the above flavors is usually present. 3/3: Wood smoke (either hickory or oak). This is such a quick smoking experience that a second one would...

2022-16 José L. Piedra Cazadores (unknown year or code)
I received 5 of these last July and it has remained untouched until now. It has a toothy wrapper, for what that is worth. 1/3: Hibiscus, chalk (or talcum powder- whatever) and towards the end the sweetness from passion fruit. 2/3: Coco powder, obscure floral notes and some faint mustiness. 3/3...

2022-17 Partagas Serie. D No. 4 (BSM October 2021)
This cigar comes highly recommended as I'm sure most of you already know. One of the staples when it comes to Cuban robustos. To quote a well regarded member here "another young cigar, but smoking beautifully." 1/3: Pepper and mushrooms. It has been a hot minute since I've tasted mushrooms in...

2022-18 Montecristo No 4 (BUM OCT 2014)
I have never had one of these. At least that I can recall. So I was very excited to try one as I have heard many folks here talk about the smaller Montie vitolas. 1/3: Lots of espresso and dark charred wood flavors. 2/3: The espresso and wood char have now morphed into the taste you get when...

2022-19 Por Larranaga Petit Corona (LGR Sept 2018)
I may have had more of these then just about any other Cuban cigar. Which isn't saying much, we are talking maybe 10-ish, but regardless, I've enjoyed every one I've had. Unfortunately for me, I've never bought a box, much less a cab and that is my loss, these days. Also, of every one that I...

2022-20 Partagas Short (ALT June 2013)
Okay, so I realize this is the third time I've reviewed this size this summer. Sorry. I bet it is different then the last two. Go read those and let me know. 1/3: Musty attic with some pepper on the finish. Not quite black pepper or cayenne so maybe its white pepper? I'm not sure. 2/3...

2022-21 Por Larranaga Montecarlo (LGR ABR 2018)
Taking the advice, I sipped this one. It was delicious. 1/3: Vanilla cream frosting. 2/3: Bananas foster. 3/3: Burnt marshmallows. It was dessert in a elegant long thin cigar. Delicious. You can see that I was so in to it, I forgot to take a beginning picture.

2022-22 Ramon Allones Specially Selected (TUA OCT 2021)
This is another staple that my Cuban loving friends always seem to have or are looking to buy. 1/3: Cardboard and some brown sugar. The tail end of the first third has some vanilla. 2/3: More cardboard, brown sugar and vanilla. 3/3: Crème Brule. I don't understand why I've been getting...

2022-23 Custom Roll (2018, no box code)
Beautiful cigar, flawless wrapper and nice pig tail at the foot. Why cannot all Cubans look this nice? Seriously? 1/3: Classic Cuban flavor right off the pigtail foot of talcum powder. Very delicate though, like if you take too big of a taste, you'll miss the nuances. Talcum powder has got...

2022-24 H. Upmann Royal Robusto LCDH exclusive (LUB MAR 2014)
Beautiful construction though the draw was a tad tight. Easily solved for by the PerfecDraw. 1/3: Lightly toasted hazelnut which then transitions to bread and spice before finally settling on tea. 2/3: Tea and vanilla. Then heavily toasted bread. 3/3: Club soda with out the burn from the...

2022-25 Punch Serie D'oro EL 2013 (LAR MAY 2013)
I'm getting fancy with the last few reviews. It seems weird to say this but maybe it is what just happens with luxury or high end things but I feel that the flavors are more pronounced, the draw is a million times better and the wrappers actually look like they come from wrapper leaf. Call me...

2022-26 Ramon Allones Eminencia Exclusivo Suiza 2007
1/3: Lemon meringue pie but without the pie crust. Drizzled with amaretto. 2/3: Toasted marshmallows. 3/3: Quaker Oat's Raisins and Spice Instant Oatmeal. Not a whole lot of flavor changes, but some very interesting ones to decipher, never the less.

2022-27 Romeo y Julieta Churchill (1998, unknown box code)
The final cigar of this review series. 1/3: Easy draw. Sautéed mushrooms covered in Bragg's Organic Coconut Liquid Aminos Soy-Free Seasoning- which for those of you not in the Know, has a sweet flavor to it. 2/3: Still an earthy flavor and a sweetness but not as pronounced as the first third...
