First and foremost, read Culture Clash. By far the greatest book every written, brings the science of canines down to a level we understand... including putting the "establish dominance" theory to shame.

Second, by a clicker from petco / petsmart and train by positive reinforcement.

Third, read Culture Clash again.

Also seems super generic. Who refers to their dog as “it”. Most people would say “he” or “she”. Just an opinion.
