Tonight I had 2 DPG blends, for the first time Tatuaje J21 and Padilla 1932.
Both awesome cigars! Now I know most of the flavor comes from the wrapper but I noticed that the aroma of a Pepin blend are almost all the same.

So far I've had:
Tatuaje J21
Padilla 1932
Padilla 8/11
Padilla 1948
5 Vegas Miami

All are great but the Tat takes the cake. They are all pretty close in aroma but have different tastes...some more leathery then others, some more cedary and others sweeter.

So is this because he uses the same filler blend for all his creations but uses a different binder and wrapper combination for overall flavor? Curious why his cigars stand out from others? Does size play a factor? Of the Padilla 1932 I had a Lancero and a Torpedo...I would think the torpedo would burn cooler because of the bigger gauge but it wasn't the case, the lancero had more flavor and burned cool.

Sorry for all the questions ... I may need to attend a local HERF and get schooled by some of these veteran smokers.

If you are on a Pepin quest, try the 601 Maduro
601 Serie Box-Press Maduro is this one your talking about?

I will have to get one.

I have a DPG 8lue Label, traded for a Black Label and Tat P series.
Hopefully I can pick one up at local B&M.

I highly recommend the 601 green label. If you can find em, try the La Punta figurado. You wont be disappointed.

Thanks for the info vortex. I currently have my humi at 69-70%...I was gonna also ask I notice this from specifically the Tat that it tunneled as I smoked it, the inside burned faster then the wrapper .... is this a cause of the high humidity storage?

Now if anyone knows where I can get a singles of some of these fine smokes....please point me in that direction...I currently have a bid on CB for a sampler so I hope I get it.

You know maybe it was dangerous finding this website ... with all the recommendations my addiction is getting really expensive since I have been turned on to VSG's and DPG's, whats gonna happen when I get my hands on an Anejo

Your welcome!

The type of tunneling you describe sounds like you took cigar from a drier RH and moved it to a wetter RH and it didn't saturate all the way through. So it burned through the drier tobacco more easily.

A newer smoker frequently thinks a higher RH is the way to go. This is born of fear of drying out your stash. Almost alway they come around to realizing 65% is the way to go. It usually takes time for some reason. Two other techniques help. Rotate your stock and invest in a fan.

Although I'm pretty happy with the beads, I'm looking at the system Heartfelt just started selling with the fans. Seems even more idiot-proof. :D A fan in a 120qt. cooler is probably a good idea, though.

In your opinion I have an Oasis XL and Heartfelt Bead ... I have the beads in my coolidor and the Oasis in my desktop ... do you think I should remove the beads from my coolidor and replace them with the oasis and set my oasis to 65%RH or stick with the beads? (by the way I mixed beads of 65%RH with 70%RH so I can have a 68% RH in my coolidor.)
