Duck Season

Saturday begins duck season. I went out to the club every day this week and checked the pump and progress on the gut rehab of the small house we have. We had a small problem with the pump due to a wire with burned up insulation. After getting the pump company out the pump now runs normally and the pool is just about filled.

I was driving down the road between all of the clubs in the area and saw some ducks landing, wings cupped, sailing in and now I have, (even before the season starts on Saturday).......DUCKOMANIA.

Can't wait until Saturday morning. Sunrise on the marsh. Woodies darting by at 40 mph and the smell of gunpowder and cigars in the air. I'm not sure how the hunting will be this year, if anyone up north know LMK, but I am looking forward to this season as much as any in the past.

Since the season starts tomorrow we may have woodies out of season. As long as the games warden doesn't catch us it will be ok. If she does we will all be in jail for a long time.

Got some nice bourbons to help get the party started thanks to some of your input!

Duck hunting is my number one obsession. Our regular season doesn't open until the 13th. I love it when my fowling friends to the north drink copious amounts of Bourbon the night before thier hunt..... usually means more ducks make the flight south. LOL!

There were a few woodies and there might be some pictures of the party. If I can get my hands on them I will post.

Opening day was kind of slim. Very warm no clouds. Net result, two wood ducks, one teal, one gadwall.

My opener was this morning... 3 gaddies, 2 ring-necks, and a greenwing teal. Passed several shots on Black Belly tree ducks and Woodies. It was quite a show this morning with ducks everywhere. Plenty geese on the wing along with Sandhill cranes but all heading further south.

Maybe some geese will visit me tomorrow.....
