This was in my e-mail this morning......a new low in terms of e-mail scams.

"I am Capt. Brian Morgan, a US Marine, serving in the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine
Regiment Anbar province, Iraq. I am presently in Iraq.I am seeking your
ssistance to evacuate the sum of (Ten million Five Hundred USD) to the States or
anysafe country, as far as I can be assured that it will be safe in your care
until I complete my service here. This is no stolen money and there are no
dangers involved. Contact me via my private box: brian_morgan1211@hotmail.com so
that I canfurnish you with more details.
Capt. Brian Morgan
United States Marin"

As someone who works in computer security, I'm not surprised. Emails like that need a hook to get someone to do something and "buy in" to something. I've seen worse, seriously. You may want to report it here: http://www.antiphishing.org/ and the FBI's website (it was down when I went to connect but you should be able to find their reporting section somewhere at http://www.fbi.gov)

Not sure exactly which ring of Hell this would qualify for, but I sure hope it's one of the lower ones. Simply disgraceful!!

This is a shame and a disservice to anyone who has spent any time serving this country. I doubt they will, but I hope they find the bastard that started this, and send him straight to Gitmo.

Oh, and ironically, I have already given Capt. Morgan plenty of my money in the past.

Middle hell if we are talking about Dante's Hell. Fraud-the Sins of the Leopard-is punished between the Sins of the Lion (violence-upper levels) and Sins of the She-Wolf (treachery-lower levels).

Specifically he would be punished with the grafters. Sunk into boiling pitch, he would be ripped and gouged by demons with grappling hooks whenever he broke the surface. Please see my next post for the correct information!!!

Good job out of you Supremo!!

Hopefully there will be sharks with freakin' laser beams swimming around in the boiling pitch as well.

Ok, wait...I'm all wrong. I confused grafting (a form of political corruption) with grifting (a confidence scam).

This guy would probably be considered an evil impersonator or falsifier of persons. Therefore, he would be punished in the last Bolgia of middle hell. He would run throughout the circle in a ravenous state, rending and tearing the other souls punished there (alchemists, counterfeiters, and false witnesses).

I'm wa-a-a-y too into this, but I didn't want to give y'all wrong information.

I'm always of the mind that any of these scammers' time that's wasted is a good thing, so I sent "Capt. Morgan" a pseudonymous note.

What a scumbag. Replied that he joined the USMC because his wife and kids were killed on 9/11 he says.

Ugh.
