Why are some people so stupid? I was bidding on a used item on ebay for the past week. It's selling today, and it's going for almost double MSRP!!!

WTF is wrong w/ people? They could go buy from the MFGR for $150 LESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are some "ebayers" so f**king stupid? This defeats the purpose of auctions. Reminds me of some of the Einsteins on cBid.
 
Maybe I'm too cynical, but my first thought is that it's a set-up.
 
A lot of people find auctions addictive. Similar to gambling but I don’t think there’s as many people in the auction group. In my own little world this is what I like to attribute to auctions that go down like that as there’s such a blatant disregard for what the item is worth.
 
No, lost the RC copter too, again, someone who bid it way too high.

I'm bidding on a ham radio antenna. It goes for $199 on the MFGR's site, with a one year warranty. It's at $365 on ebay right now, used, and has another 2 1/2 hours to go. Can't believe how dumb some people are.
 
Yep, got to know the value of what you're bidding on and be able to walk away at whatever you set your limit to. Myself, I set a minimum savings of 20% off of the lowest price I can find online. This includes inflated shipping cost. Of course there are variables like availability to factor in.

Rod, curious, why do you bid before the end of the auction? Before I started using bidsnapper I would set outlook to remind me 30 minutes prior to the end or set my phone alarm. Bidding early serves absolutely no purpose other than to drive the final price up.

If I may, I have found that much of it has to do with how honest the person selling the item is. There are some people that just don't get out much. These same people get reeled in hook line and sinker when the Seller says, "Rare, Hard to find, Collectors Item." When in reality, you can go to the store and pick one up within minutes.

I could never bring myself to lie in selling, guess it's my problem in Ebay.
