Educate me please!

Well gents, I do appreciate the advice, insight, and recommendations! After talking to my dad, I'm going to compile a list of the suggestions here and he is going to see what he can order for me from his supplier (he owns a deli and has a liquor license). Hopefully I can ease into this, I really want to see what it's like! :)
 
I made my first rum purchase today! :D I'll admit, this is going to be rough for me, and baby steps seem to be in order. I poured a finger of it over a couple ice cubes, let it sit for a bit and then gave it a go. I took a small sip, let it run over my tongue a bit, and didn't immediately gag! :blush:

The smell coming off this stuff was delicious! A very dark smell, it strangely enough reminded me of chocolate. It was surprisingly smooth, and I could taste a bit of caramel to it which was very nice. I did start to feel a bit green after about five sips, but I figure if I just keep at it, eventually I will overcome! So what do you gents think of my selection?
