So my first instinct was to go with Cincinnati against Washington. this would be a scoring play, as Washington protects the ball and the QB quite well (my league awards points for sacks and turnovers)

Then I saw that Leftwich is out, and a real unknown Garrard is starting for Jax against a very high scoring Detroit D. In my league Cincy averages 11.2 PPG and Detroit Averages 10.4

What should I do?

Their average is only a point away from each other. You could go either way. I think Detroit is going to get a steady dose of Fred Taylor so Gerrard will get very friendly passes to make. Washington needs to start piling on points. Look for Brunell to get Coles and Gardner more involved. That means more passing attempts. Me, I'd go with Cincy this week.

detriot. you can pretty much expect a couple of ints from garrad. plus det has a better offense than cin which means they will be on the field longer. you always gotta go againts the backup qb.

Not enough information on how your defense scores points to analize it deeply. Detroit has a little stronger D than Cin but Jacksonville is a lot better offense than Washington.

I'm skeptic if jacksonville having their backup QB playing will actually help or hurt the defense since jacksonville has a pretty good RB and will most likely run the ball more.

I'd lean towards Cin playing the weaker offense but its a coin toss either way.

I've decided to go with Detroit based on the fact that Jacksonville has a pretty low scoring offense as well. I'm thinking that the QB is the X-factor here and that he's good for at least one more sack or turnover than Jacksonville averages. Sacks ar eworth a point, turnovers are worth 2)

And Kenny to satisfy your curiosity

Sack (1)
Interception (2)
Fumble Recovery (2)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (2)
Block Kick (3)
Points Allowed 0 points (15)
Points Allowed 1-6 points (7)
Points Allowed 7-13 points (4)
Points Allowed 14-20 points (1)
Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1)
Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)

Forgot to add, I think Detroit knows that Jacksonville will lean on Fred Taylor a little more and will be ready for him. I see lots of blitzing in Detroit's future, which serves to clog up the running lanes as well as dare the QB to make plays.

Unless your D scores for KO/Punt TD returns it appears Cin was the better choice. If you get points for return TD's then Both teams scored the same.

My adding has Cin scoring 15 points and Detroit scoring 3.... if Detroit gets the return TD's than they scored 15 as well.

Points scored against.
Cin - 10 - (4 points)
Detroit - 23 (0 Points)

Sacks
Cin - 5 (5 points)
Detroit - 3 (3 points)

Interceptions
Cin - 3 (6 points)
Detroit - 0 (0 points)

TD Returns
Cin - 0
Detroit - 2 (12 points if the D gets returns)

BTW, I started Garrard (Jacksonvilles QB) for a league I'm in and scored big time. LOL!
