I'm watching this show about donuts on the Travel Channel and it got me thinking...

Since moving out to the desert of Sin, I've long for my favorite donuts. DUNKIN' DONUTS!!!! These are no where to be found in Sin City. There use to be one located in a casino, but no more.

I have a buddy who works for Allied Foods (Corporate for Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin Robbins, ToGos) and I asked him why there aren't any Dunkin' Donuts out here. He said, it just didn't market well. Market well? WTF? Krispy Kreme in my opinion has "Jumped the Shark" and is nothing but sugar and air.

Wish there was a way to open up a franchise here, but he said it would take a lot of money and helluva good business plan to get something going.

So, what is your favorite donut...

Maple Donuts is king around here.

I refuse to eat Donuts. So why not a choice in the poll for that option? :sign:

Back in California (San Jose/Los Gatos), there was Yum Yum's Donuts and Manley's Donuts. Both were pretty damn good, with Yum Yum's holding first place IMHO.

Here in Miami, nothing really of any significant note. Don't really eat donuts much anyway (maybe 1-2 times a year, if that). I guess around here, it would be Dunkin' Donuts.

Wow...Winchell's....haven't even thought of that place in years. :)

I know there are several donut shops local to certain areas, but here in Vegas, I haven't come across one yet.

I don't eat donuts much anymore, but whenever I'm back east, I head for Dunkin' Donuts.

Here in Miami, the "donut" is the churro. By far, the best around, can be found at Las Palmas in West Miami. Calle Ocho and...roughly...63rd.

Beyond that, I have extremely fond memories of walking/staggering through Jackson Square, early morn, late, late night, hitting Decatur, piping hot beignets, powdered sugar everywhere, coffee w/ chicory...sobering up/knocking out a pounding headache looking at Saint Louis....mmmm...Cafe du Monde.

Tim Horton's cannot be beat.

Yyyyyyup!!

Krispy Creme came to Canada, they saw, they put up a fight, and they lost.

DD still have a small presence here in Canada, but about as common as cheap tobacco.

The other 2 I haven't heard of.

In Canada, Timmy's is king and they're invading the States (albeit more expensive!!!)

EDIT:

'Cause I have fat fingers

Their coffee is nothing to sneeze at, either.

Do you mean WaWa? They were like Entermanns.

My wife. She makes the best donuts, about once or twice a year.

If she made them more often I'd be as big as a house!

I'm a Cafe du Monde freak, big ole clumps of dough with powered sugar and their coffee is spot on. DD makes a pretty good doughnut, I'll leave the best doughnuts for my law enforcement friends.
