James Suckling wrote the following describing a cigar smoking experience...

"What struck me about the XXXXXXXXXX—even with a debutant's palate—was its balance and harmony. The cigars were rich and flavorful, yet elegant and refined at the same time. They delivered lots of flavor, but left your palate feeling clean and refreshed. Moreover, if you smoked one after dinner, the next morning your mouth didn't feel as if you had been chewing tobacco in your sleep."

First question... Have you ever experienced a flavourful cigar that left your palate clean and refreshed? If yes, what cigar(s)?

Second question... If you answered YES to the above, what factors do you feel contribute the greatest to a flavourful clean and refreshing cigar.

My Answers...

1)YES, Diamond Crown #2 with about 5 years of age

2)I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that multiple fermentations is a big contributing factor.

1.I can't be specific because many ISOM's leave a refreshing after
taste in my mouth, some for hours. I can taste the flavor
of the cigar when I suck down on my palate.

2.The quality of the cigar, usually an aged ISOM but there are some
young sticks that wil do the same.

Only aged Cuban Davidoffs leave that feeling in my mouth.

He had it right all the way.

"clean and refreshed" ???

Sounds like he douched his mouth.....

"Clean and refreshed," after smoking a cigar? Is that the same guy who writes the ads for Thompsons?

Refreshed after cigar? If by refreshed they mean nice cigar taste in mouth than yes, I'm usually refreshed.
But if its about real refrehing I better like to wash my teeth :whistling:

The fresh ones don't? ;)

Never had my palate feel cleaner or refreshed for having smoked a cigar.

Sounds like he douched his mouth.....

"Mr. Suckling, do you ever feel...not so fresh?"

Just what I was thinking! Is it possible for a douche bag to douche his mouth? :D If I wanted clean and refreshed I wouldn't be smoking a cigar, I'd brush my teeth and gargle with mouth wash!

Feel Clean And Refreshed Each Time You Use The Toilet

e200.jpg

TOTO electronic toilets have been around for a while, what makes this worth talking about is the promotional video they have posted on their site. It's halarious! Be sure to check it out and for those of you actually interested in the WASHLET E200, upon activation, the automatic wand extends to provide a gentle stream of warm aerated water. It gives you what they call, "an unparalleled level of comfort and clean" feeling. For maximum soothing, they've included a massage feature, a warm air dryer and a temperature controlled heated seat with energy-saver functionality. A must for someone that has it all… [Thanks Reece!]

The quote does not refer to clean and refreshing as in
brushing your teeth or he would have stated this!!! :whistling:

Brian,

Do you think it has something to do with the processing of the leaf or is just a trait of Cuban tobacco?

I have also experience in with a few Cuban cigars.

My guess is that it has to do with the soil the ISOM tobacco is grown in because I have not experienced the exact same thing with any DC.

Like Kramer said...

Although Kramer and his investors were really interested in Cubans -> ->
"KRAMER: Jerry, I just picked up the Cubans at the bus station. (shrill) What's going on!?
JERRY: What?
KRAMER: (animated) They're not real Cubans. They're Dominicans.
JERRY: So?
KRAMER: So, Jerry, if my investors don't get Cubans, the whole deal's off.
JERRY: What's the difference?
KRAMER: Jerry, once you've had real Cubans, there's just nothing else like it.
JERRY: (confused) We're talking about people, right?
KRAMER: Yes, yes. The quality, the texture, the intoxicating aroma. These guys don't have it.
JERRY: I thought they smelled pretty nice.
KRAMER: Jerry, your palate's unrefined."

Never had a clean and refreshing feeling, and even if I did I would be reminded by my significant other that I "taste like dirty cigar."
