First off, awesome community and thanks for all the great posts and wealth of information here.

I just received my humidor a dew days ago and I am happy to report that it look less than 48 hours for the thing to stabilize. On day one I gave it a liberal dose of distilled water and placed the sponge inside. On day 2 I removed the sponge and performed a second wipe down. Against advice, I got a little ansty and decided to check on it before the second day was up. It seemed to be holding right around 70%, so I threw in my new stash. To my relief, it is holding right around 68-71% with the cigars inside, despite the 10% RH we are currently experiencing. I am already anxious to purchase a larger 100ct Bally glass top. Anywho, just wanted to say thanks for providing newbs, like myself, with everything needed to make this hobby a successful adventure.

That is a great post and makes me smile.

I think it is so exciting when people pick up this great passion. I hope it gives you as many years of joy and happiness it has given everyone here.

Very much care Sir.

Nice pickup on the humi. As I'm sure you've read and others will tell you, the 100ct humi is nice, but for the money, I would skip it and pick up a cooler. You'll need it before you know it. I never thought I'd fill a cooler, and here I am looking to buy another cooler to fill. Wally world has the Igloo Ice Cube, which is what I have for $30. They're easy to store because they're square and a lot bigger than they look (60 qt).

Good luck with whatever you decide!

100ct?! Go bigger.

Baby steps! :)

I want something that will look nice sitting on top of the bookshelf/cabinet in my living room. I figure I could get that one for the living room for the major and frequent smokes. If or when I fill it up, I figure a coolidor or tubidore will suffice...at least for now.

Congrats. Always glad to see new people taking up the hobby.

Anytime a post describes buying a humidor - the overwhelming consensus is; go bigger. You may think baby steps are the way to go, and if you have room for numerous humidors - maybe you're right. But the fact of the matter is that people who are into this hobby enough to come on this site, do research, and buy a humidor, are the same kind of people we are. We found that whereas a small humidor serves a purpose, we needed more room in short order. Very short order. The suggestion to buy bigger than a 100 ct. isn't hazing, or some kind of joke. It's those who have been through the initial stages of the hobby sharing our experience. In the long run, you'll end up saving money by going bigger rather than buying numerous smaller humis. The suggestion of a coolerdor is a good one. You have a nice looking desktop box already in which you can keep your daily smokes. Coolers are cheap this time of year, and you can find numerous coolerdoor build instructions on this site and others. If you do one big-mamma-jamma coolerdor - you'll be set for at least a while. You'll outgrow that 100 ct. in a few months at most.

How much is this humi you're looking into upgrading to? I might be able to save you a step, and tell you to buy a 100 qt. coolar from walmart and 2 lbs. of beads from Heartfelt. Probably be a little more expensive, maybe 20-30 dollars more, but it'll be the last one you buy for a long time!!

Good luck! :sign:

$59.99

I'm wanting a bit of a display piece, but will definitely move to a cooler for storage, once it's filled.

WHOA! :0 Your name changed!! :sign: Well, don't come crying to me when your humi fills up in two months there fella, cause' I warned ye!

These guys are telling the truth. Only a week after I got my measely 25 count and only had 15 cigars to put in it, my number of cigars strangely went up to 27. And now I've got my sights set on a 16 bottle wine-a-dor. It pulls you in, man.

What he said. I was gifted a 50 count when I first started on here. I now have a Vinotemp running. At that Vino is half full. If I go over this then a cooler it will be. Its just advice but the one you are looking at is nice. My first is glass top and has my Initials etched into it. I now use it to hold various cigar junk.

Dude skip the 16 bottle and go to the 28!

I'm thinkin' that's how it's gonna end up. I go to buy the 16, and see the 28 right next to it. "Why not?"

Yep, it changed. You're the first person I am gunna come crying to! :) Actually, since you're the one so suggesting of it, you will be my go to man for the coolador that I'm sure I will need.

I'm just not envisioning an igloo-cooler looking very classy as a centerpiece in my living room. heh.

I want something semi-fancy for the living room, I feel it would be a nice touch. The 15ct I just setup will be demoted to my locker at work.
