On my F16 flight November 30th, we did not have a photo chase plane along on the flight for any aerial shots. However, when we did the in-flight refueling, the boom operator on the tanker took some shots. The only problem was that he was based out of March ARB in Riverside Ca. and I was flying out of Edwards AFB. I wasn't too certain I would ever see anything from him since we only met briefly at 25,000 feet above the Mojave desert and there wasn't much chance to exchange business cards. Well he managed to tracked me down through the folks at Edwards and I just got an e-mail from the boomer and here are the shots he took.

Do you feel like stopping off in Winnipeg sometime and taking this oh-so-jealous canuck for a ride? Airport YWG, just in case you need it ;)

I'm quite sure that an F16 beats the crap outta my rides in an A6.

Awesome! I did a refueling flight for Boss's Day at Luke AFB. One of my employees was a reservist and they have a day to show employers around the base to see what reservists do. One of the items was a flight on a refueling tanker to watch F16s get refueled. We laid down right next to the boom pilot as he tanked up planes. It was unreal to see how close they got, it looked exactly like your picture! We could read the pilot's name tags! I got some awesome video of it. They also let us fly the boom around after the '16s left.

That is amazing what they can do today! It's like trying to refuel a car on the high with a moving gas tank... :0

That is awesome Danny, thanks for sharing. I'm quite certain that if I were to do that I would constantly spout "Top Gun" movie lines to the point of the pilot hitting my eject button in a desperate attempt at peace and quiet. Be honest, how many lines from that movie did you use during your flight? Thanks for sharing the pics, they are a real treat.

No lines from Top Gun (that's Navy) :D

Although the phrase "Do a barrel roll!" did find it's way into the conversation. Then, much to my appreciation the pilot said, "you want to do a barrel roll? Then YOU do the barrel roll" and he handed control over to me and I did a barrel roll to the left and then another to the right. :D
