I am lucky to be spending some time away from my wife's f#@&ing cats this week. In fact, I am lucky enough to be spending some time at Key Colony Beach (near Marathon)...speaking of lucky, that f#@&ing cat is lucky that I left town...but I digress.

Any way, I am wondering if any of you have a recommendation of any cigar shops in the area that are can't miss type destinations. Any with rollers worth checking out? I could go for a custom roll or something like that. Also, if you are feeling really charitable and want to tell me a good place to watch the Music City Bowl (Kentucky versus Clemson), I would be forever in your debt. I am not afraid to log some miles on the rental car, so let me know your thoughts up and down the Keys.

Thanks in advance!

Congrats! I love the Keys, and try to get down every year. I've only really found one good "local" cigar place there: Conch Republic Cigars. http://www.conch-cigars.com/ They have some pretty nice smokes; I especially like the King Conch maduro; its a diademas and pretty interesting. I've tried a bunch of the other places; didn't find much interesting.

If you're in the Marathon area, though, and have wheels, let me strongly suggest you head for Mecca -- you're maybe two beautiful hours from Calle Ocho. http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/CA_Features/CA_Feature_Basic_Template/0,2344,2271,00.html El Credito, where they make La Gloria Cubana; El Rey de los Habanos, home of Don Pepin; and a bunch more. My favorite is actually the little known El Titan de Bronze-great cigars, and they'll treat you like long-lost family. Try the Redemption, with the sun grown wrapper in the Robusto size; that's my favorite. While you're there, suggest you grab a meal at Las Tapas de Rosa.

Don't get me wrong - The Keys are about my favorite place in the world. Not much better than smoking cigars at 4 am in Durty Harry's, listening to the band and drinking a cold one. But Calle Ocho is a don't miss for a BOTL.

My two cents, for what it's worth. Hope to be there next month, myself.

Chris
