Net Framework 3.5 SP1 is showing up as a critical update at a whopping 250+MB monster.

Is this update really necessary?? I'm thinking "No" unless there is something else I am missing.

I have found very few discussions online about this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some programs require it running in the background. If all of your apps are workiong don't worry about it.

Well this is what I was thinking. The NET framework updates have always been "as needed". But this one shows up as a "Urgent" and it's enormous.

Doesn't make sense to me.
