For those of you that share a bed

As you lay in bed, the man sleeps:

I used to keep a sword on both sides of the bed. When I broke my leg I moved to the side closest to the bathroom.
 
I sleep on whatever side the alarm clock ends up on when we move, or next to the phone in a hotel room, cause I have seen much too often when she turns off the alarm, she doesn't make it out of bed. I have to be the one to turn it off and wake her or she would sleep in every day.

We recently had this discussion at work, and thought it was funny that one of the guys who acts like a real bad ass replied when asked which side of the bed he sleeps on, "Whichever side she tells me to..."
 
Very interesting. I would have never guessed the "closest to the door"...but I actually sleep closest to the door and have for the last several bedrooms. I just never thought of it.

Interesting that at least one couple doesn't sleep together. I wonder if it is snoring, schedule or what? My grandparents didn't sleep together and each had their own room. It seemed normal to them, but is kind of weird now that I think back on it.

Thanks to everybody that answered...I was just curious.

I wonder how many folks sleep with a dog or baby? I guess I'll leave that to somebody else....
 
This would make a great study. I can think of a couple of follow up questions. For instance, is there a correlation between what side of the bed you sleep on and your handedness or that of your spouse? Is there a correlation between what side of the bed you sleep on and direction. that is, is your bed mostly aligned north-south or east-west? And most important, is there a correlation between the side of the bed you sleep on and where the TV sits, assuming you have one? :rolleyes: Great question!! :thumbs:
 
When I was married, it changed as we moved houses or to a different room in the house.

First house: I was on the right
Second house, first bedroom: I was on the left
Second house, second bedroom (we moved to a different bedroom in the same house): I was on the right

Then we got divorced.

Now I sleep on the left again when we sleep at her house and on the right at my house. :laugh:
 
When we first got married, i slept on the side closest to the door, but after years of her wrapping herself around my neck and overheating me, we got seperate beds. I sleep on the bed closest to the door, and more comfortably. :)
 
When someone sleeps with me..I sleep on the right side of the bed, ON my right side. Somethig about me having to have my right arm under the pillows. But by morning I have tossed enough to end up any direction.

When i sleep by myself..I sleep smack dab in the middle and try my best to take up the whole bed.

When with someone else at their house...I try not to stick my arms out too far in their general direction if I have been drinking..just in case I wake up and she looks a little different. Wouldn't want to have to gnaw my arm off just to get the hell out of bed without waking her up. :whistling:

Historically speaking, sleeping with one's wife only became popular in the early 20th century. Prior to that, separate rooms was the rule.
