I remember the days when the Soviets used to try an provoke us into a fight. Our superior technology and training always prevailed. I expect that if they're up to the same old shenannigans, tactics, technology, and training will previal again.

The Soviets did some stupid shit in my day and lost two boats because of it (no, I'm not saying we were responsible). I vividly recall the sense of morbidity I had when thinking what it must have been like. I prayed for those men, dying such a horrible death. I would have sunk them myself, if ordered, but I'd still mourn the loss.

It'a a shame when a man dies doing his duty. But right now the Russkies are flexing their muscles while we are occupied with every little thing. I can't wish them good luck.

You have to remember that the Soldier and the Country are 2 different things. Right or wrong a soldier defends his country. Countries make war with each other, Soldiers carry it out, and Soldiers do the "wet work". You cannot fault a Patriot for falling orders. If you must, harbor your ill-will against the Country, and respect the soldiers.
