Around the first of December I was kinda bored at work so I downloaded Gametap, the service that has 1,000 games, yada yada yada. So I played it for about a hour, and uninstalled. Work picked up and I forgot to call them. I called one day AFTER the two week free trial and got charged 15 bucks. I called up, they said sorry it's cancelled, can't refund the money. I said OK fine, just please I don't want it and thanks for cancelling it.

I looked on my bank statement this afternoon and noticed I got charged 15 AGAIN. So this is a little upsetting. I call the company and they told me it was NOW cancelled and that the customer service guy didn't process it all the way. And I say thanks have a good one... And by the way, how long will it take to process my refund? It won't be processed, they don't do refunds. Now I'm mad...

My advice is stay away, the "Free trial" has cost me 30 bucks, and I haven't played it for more than 1 hour (I had them confirm that ;) ) And also I've gotten "odd" charges on my card for the past month for a rolling stone subscribtion and also DVDs from Columbia House... and I don't think anyone retailers (considering I only by cigars online) would sell my card info. ;)

Besides reporting them to the BBB is there anything else I can do? ???

Thanks for the help and the ear! - KB

I would first cancel that card, just in case. Also you might call the District Atty in that companies city. I don't know if that will help, but my Boss is always afraid when someone say's that they made a complaint to the DA.

Maybe a someone on the board will have a better idea.

I'd have two suggestions.

1. Get a credit card that provides some type of limited, user controllable virtual card, at least that is what CitiBank calls them. Other banks use different names for them but most are similar in features. They are intended for on-line use. I use these for all my on-line purchases. Provides some peace-of-mind and prevents exactly what you described.

2. I'd would dispute both of the two charges with your credit card company. Procedures for disputing charges are normally found on the back of your statement. I think if you tell them you did not specifically authorize the charges, they will issue you a credit for the two charges. Certainly for the second charge since the CS rep you spoke with informed you that you were cancelled.

Good luck.

This is what they count on. If you put it on your credit card, the second charge will be very easy to get rid of (the first one will be difficult since you didn't cancel the service in time).

If you padid by EFT, good luck. It will take months to get your $15 back. It probably isn't worth it as long as they have truly canceled by now.

My advice, have a spare crdit card for electronic purchases. They offer better protection.

The first charge he is going to have to pay... its in the agreement when you join for the free 2 weeks, that if you dont cancel the subscription before the trial period ends, you automatically agree to pay the monthly fees.

But the second charge he can fight and probably win.

Well as for the subscription and DVD they don’t sell your card information, they sneak that in your trial sign up agreement. I hate it, it usually states unless you call bla bla bla and cancel you will automatically be charged for the fallowing: As for that second charge I would call and sit on the phone for a couple of hours until they refund your money.

I called the DVD people and the rolling stone people and got them reversed with them. I'll calling the card company and currently on hold.

Hope it works out for you KB, don't take any crap from those idiots.
