Glad to see someone shares my affliction for the great Boston boys of Boondock Saints!

"For shepards we shall be for thee my lord for thee. For power hath descended forth form thy had so our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, and we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be! In nominae patri, et Filli, et Spiritus Sancti!"

Yeah Goodfellas pretty much rocks.

'Heat' is a good one too.

Thanks for the lovely information knight...our mafia family is now rightly organized!

Godfather 1-3
Scarface
Goodfellas
Casino
Once upon a time in America
All are in order

The Untouchables (Brian DePalma is one of my favorite directors)
Godfather 1 and 2 (Still the gold standard, IMHO)
Black Rain (an overlooked gem from Ridley Scott)
Get Shorty ("You think the movie business is any different?")
Pulp Fiction (Jules Winfield and the Wolf - 'nuff said!)

and the TV show that the Sopranos owes a tremendous debt to:
Crime Story (WAY ahead of its time!)
Best quote (from the pilot) "You posin' for pictures...or are you gonna pull the trigger?"

If you haven't seen this show, check it out on DVD... it's a must have!

Robert

Boondock Saints

New Jack City

Miller's Crossing

Angels With Dirty Faces

The Untouchables
Heat
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
The Untouchables
Scarface
GodFather 1-2

I would also have to give Johnny Dangerously a nod, even though it is a comedy.

Definitely Miller's Crossing. Wonderful characters.
Then Godfather I & II
Then Goodfellas
Then Reservoir Dogs
Then maybe Casino, but it had quite a few slow parts.
Can't recommend Scarface, as much as I liked parts of it, it was just too plodding
Same for Heat
And Godfather III? Not now, not ever.

....don't know that I'd call this one a "gangster" movie but I guess you could say the same thing about "Boondock Saints". "Heat" is, however, a great movie. Directed by Michael Mann (same guy that did Miami Vice). Forgot that one; it's got my vote for the all time most intense shoot out in a movie....a good guy film, to be sure.

Mann is doing the new "Miami Vice" movie coming out this summer. Hope he didn't fsk it up.....

Gotta love Gangster movies, always been one of my favorite genres. Here's the list:

Casino
The Usual Suspects
Reservoir Dogs
GodFather I/II
GoodFellas
A Bronx Tale
Donnie Brasco
Scarface
Untouchables
The Warriors(not really gangsters, but still a good movie)
Heat
The Sopranos HBO series, while not a movie is great!
