I'm going to Vegas for the first time and I'm asking all the experienced people what I can do near the strip. I will be limited to a few hours during the evening, unless there are things that don't close.

From doing the search, it seems going to the pheasant is in order for a cigar.
Anything cool non cigar related?

most things don't close in Vegas, so you should be able to stay out as late as you want . . .

Casa Fuente in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops. Rumbar nextdoor at the MGM I think allows cigar smoking and has like 200 kinds of rum. What else do you like to do? If you like to eat I can recommend several places from normal prices up to $500 a person. Don't miss out on Casa Fuente though!

I wanted to check out the dead body thing at the Luxxor I think it is, it looked pretty interesting. If you like playing poker the Venetian and the Bellagio have good $1/$2 texas holdem for 200 max buy in. I like the bellagios poker room better. Whatever you like to do I'm sure you can find it there.

I know the Pheasant seems close to the strip, but you'll see when you get there it's not just down the street. It takes like 5-10 minutes to walk from Caesars Palace to the Bellagio and they are next door. You're gonna have a great time!

gamble, drink on the streets, don't go to sleep until the sun comes up and get yourself a hooker. That will wrap up your trip. ;)

I noticed some ads for the body exhibit at the Luxor. That looked interesting. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, I like exploring and looking at cool things rather than gambling. Thanks for the advice so far everyone.

Bodies exhibit is worth a look. 2 hours of super interesting stuff. I highly recommend.
Pheasant Cigars will have all the cool stuff the boys around here talk about although his stock is a little low right now it's still better than anybody else.
Casa Fuente is the best Mojito in town and some interesting people watching while smoking.
All the cigar stores close. Pheasant is around 7pm I think and CF is 11pm. Lots of standup comedy to enjoy, some early, some late.
Enjoy your trip.

edit to add closing times!

Been to vegas several times. See the Hoover Dam and check this place out. Had a lot of fun doing the jet line. Also check out this cigar shop in vegas they carried a lot of the Fuente stuff at a lot better prices than Casa, Pheasant Cigars was a very nice shop also. Rent a car forget the walking and stay downtown or at least check it out.

I hear there is a good new comedy act in town!

Also don't miss the Pheasant. Great shop

Of course hookers man hookers!!!!

If you can score a ticket, ANY Cirque du Soleil show is not to be missed.

Ok I second this. I've seen Mystiere (Sp?) at Treasure Island 3 times. Best way to describe the show is a circus act on LSD. Crazy, wild show well worth seeing! You'll leave the show saying "wow!".

If this wasn't a family trip I would so strip it up.
The sirens show wasn't open today in front of Treasure Island otherwise I'd be headed there.

Take the MRS to the Forum shops at Caesars you can check out Casa Fuente while there. Eat a really good meal if your budget can stand it, go get a one pound hot dog for $1 if not, either is cool in its way.

The light show at Fremont street is free and one of the older casinos there has a gianormus shrimp cocktail for cheap.
My info is dated, haven't been to LV since before Casa Fuente opened.

If you are staying at TI play some video poker at the Breeze Bar. It's cigar friendly and the free drinks come fast. The seat to the far right of the bar with your back to the players club has been very good to me. If you are there on the weekend look for the Gilley Girls Pit.

Also, walk or tram next door to the Mirage and walk into Rhumbar. Cigars, scotch, rum and lots of hot babes at night.

Casa Fuente is worth a trip since it's right on the strip. Pheasant is nice but really it's no different than any other good B&M. I wouldn't waste part of a 2-3 day trip for a visit unless you are meeting some folks there.

If time permits take your girl to the Bellagio Conservatory at night. The Christmas display is quite spectacular.

Down the road in front of The City City walk into The Cosmo. There is a 3 story lounge surrounded by a $34,000,000 Swarovski Crystal chandelier. There are over 6,000,000 Swarovski Crystals so it's a sight to see and just opened a week or 2 ago. My photo doesn't do the place justice.

Don't forget to try and build a complete collection of "slap cards" from the street vendors. They are free!!

I would like to thank everyone for the good suggestions!
I stayed at the Stratosphere, but Pheasant was too out of the way to be able to do everything else in time.
So, I ended up at Case Fuente. The mojito was excellent!

I also got a couple slap cards and saw "Crazy Horse Paris" while I was there.
I saw a couple of the free shows such as the volcano eruption, Sirens at TI, and the Zeus animatronics at Caesars Palace.

Overall, a good time!

Excellent!

Too much to do in Vegas for just one trip; especially your first.

Glad you had a good time!
