After about a 10 year layoff from golf , I'm going to start playing again.

I used to play in Footjoy Dryjoy's and liked them but don't really know what has changed in the last 10 years ( except the spikes).

Any feedback is welcome...good experience vs bad. Money is not an issue as I like to walk and good shoes make all the differance there.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Frank

I went to Academy Sports the other day and all the Nike brands were on sale. I just have a pair of Austin white and brown saddle type, with Gel inserts and those things are comfortable as hell! Think I paid $39.99 for the shoes. They haven't let me down yet, and I've worn them for about 2 years.

Just went to the Academy Sports website, and everything's still on sale.

Love my adidas tour 360's just picked up a pair of Ecco Cool Ribbons seem really comfortable and I have heard great thingts but, have not had a chance to game them yet.

I would say look at the following.

Adidas Tour 360 II and LTD's
Nike SP-8's
Ecco Cool Ribbons or Hydromax

I always buy a new pair of nice shoes and a pair of golf sneakers for beating up and walking on hot summer days.

There are some nice sneakers to be had as well.

I have been using the nike shox and dri-fit and both are extremely comfortable.

PM me if you have any specific questions or if I can help w anything else.

I use a pair of Abdias that I bought from Dicks Sporting Goods on sale for $20. For just a casual player I don't think you really need anything else. The shoe is comfortable and the spikes give me decent grip when the ground is soft.

The only time I ever had any issues was walking a course not to far from where I live in Columbia (the name alludes me at the moment because I've never gone back). Everything was fine on the front nine. It was a long course be we knew that and so didn't mind too much. However, the back nine was slightly different. Those holes were really spaced out. We got to one hole (I don't remember which, just call it 14). The green had a split path next to it. Down the left was hole 15. Down the right was 16. The walk to 15 wasn't bad but it was a par 5 (450 some odd yards) and the path to 16 was at the tee box. So we do our thing and then have to walk all the way down 15 back to the path. Take that back to 14 then go right to get to 16. Well 16 was far, far away. I mean really far. We actually ran into a couple who turned around because they thought they went the wrong way. As it turned out it was a half mile from 14 to 16. The guys at the pro shop didn't mention that when we asked if we could walk and the starter just sort of chuckled when we told him we were going to. I've never gone back since.

ECCO and Bite are some of the best shoes out there. The Bite shoes are the best value go to their website as they usually have sales.

Whatever is comfortable!!!!

Etonic seems to be the best fit...for me...but I have Dry Joys and even Dexter.

If you plan to play often, rotate between a couple pairs. It will save money in the long run.

My last two pairs of shoes were both Dry Joys and they both lasted 5 years a piece.

Find what fits you well, Nikes don't fit my high arches, Ecco's don't treat me well either. I have settled into Adidas as my shoe of choice..

Lots of good info here. I have a wider foot and I think my old Dryjoys were EE. I will definetly go to a shop to see what feels good.

I have to echo the Ecco vote. I did however see Croc golf "shoes" last weekend at, of all places, Bass Pro Shop. I suppose they would be comfortable while riding, but I can't imagine walking 5 miles in Crocs.

Let it be noted that a guy with 'golfgar' as a handle was in a Bass Pro Shop!

Not that there's anything wrong with that...mind you.
