INDIANAPOLIS - A woman who grew to be 7 feet, 7 inches tall and was recognized as the world's tallest female died early Wednesday, a friend said. She was 53.

Sandy Allen, whose used her height to inspire schoolchildren to accept those who are different, died at a nursing home in her hometown of Shelbyville, family friend Rita Rose said.

She was friends with a former neighbor. Sandy used to appear at the Stagecoach restaurant in Palmyra, In on a semi-regular basis, when I was a kid.

I had a Split Enz lp signed by all members, but lost it to a bitter ex-gf years ago. Some of the finest work of the Finn(s) IMHO. No James Reyne, Ian Moss or CC, but still good stuff.

When I first read this thread, the drummer Sandy Nelson came to mind and I was thinking...man, that guy died?!
