Graycliff "uncuts"

Curious if anyone has smoked one of these and how they compare flavor wise to the regular version. In other words does a Graycliff Professional taste any different than a Graycliff Professional uncut. Also, do you go about lighting those differently being that the foot is loose?

I don't know about how they taste, haven't had one yet, but you would light the foot the same. I've smoked a few of the Gurkhas with the loose foots. No different light.

I questioned the taste part of it as the clerk said it had a different taste ( bolder) than the cut version, don't see why it would.

All hail the SEARCH button.

After one month as a member I've read enough on the boards to know better than to post a question before I do my own research.

One of you fine BOTLs gifted me one of these Graycliff uncuts and I've been waiting to enjoy it until I could find out if I just light it up as I would any other or if there were some magic to it.

Now, thanks to the much underused "Search" function I have an answer. This Graycliff's lifespan has been shortened considerably and will soon experience a glorious death by fire!

The wrapper on a cigar is what gives you most of your flavor, the filler is the stength. If you smoke the filler, without the wrapper (the shag) it will be a different flavor and likely seem strong because you don't have any wrapper or binder to complete the "blend".
 
Yeah these are called Shag(gy) Foots. I wouldn't say it makes it any stronger once you get it lit and going but it definitely makes it easier to light.
 
I had a Drew Estate Natual Dark Angel that had the shag foot and I really enjoyed it. I have actually never had a Graycliff before, but the taste on the Dark Angel was much different. It is likely due to the style of the Natural cigar line
